Once they get past fingers and toes, they are lost.

They churn a lot more players through their system that almost anyone.
1) 3-5 go pro after year 3, almost every year
2) They are very selective with 5th years because they can be. Unless a guy is a stud, they'll play freshmen
3) grey shirting
4) transfers, both voluntary and not-so-voluntary
Assuming 85 total scholarships with maybe 5 5th year on average, so they get to use 80 over 4 years, or 20 per year.
If you have 4 go early on average, that gives you 24 per year without even blinking.
Throw in the transfers and the grey shirting, it isn't even tough to sign 25+ every single year.

If you don't produce your first year or second year you are out or on medical hardship. If you don't do either of those they basically force you out and/or replace you with a grey shirt. It's like they have their own minor league farm system.

Once that investigation actually happened they'd find out all they needed to know. But, as is typical with the NCAA each time this has happened at Alabama it gets swept under the rug.

Any school can sign the number of players that they see fit, as long as the class and overall roster numbers are within the ncaa limits by the time fall camp starts.

betting that most football players recruited have substantial need.

Also an Alabama degree is not as valuable as a ND degree so guys that are buried on the depth chart transfer early...where as guys like DJ Morgan wait until they get their degree to move on.

Read what you posted and yes ND does cost a considerable amount more but that wasn’t your statement. Since Bama is a state school the costs are considerable less like all state schools.
Grey shirting is part of it, but they also know some recruits will not qualify. Bama is good at oversigning in order to maintain their 85 scholie numbers

Nick " runs off " the rejects in a yearly purge to make extra room for new prospects. That's what football factories do.
