I just hope Notre Dame wins the game so I can call him next week and rub it it his face!! He said Notre Dame doesn't stand a chance and it won't be even close, blah blah blah.
He'll aggrandize whoever's up and kick whoever's down. It's easy as hell to ride the bandwagon of whoever's dominant at the time, and it is good for ratings to stoke controversy and get people angry.
And though ND may not necessarily be "down," their reputation for not winning big, high-stakes games is widely known.
This is the thing that saddens me the most about the modern ND. They became ND by winning many high stakes games over the decades. Now they cannot even win one by accident or a fluke. What happened to the luck of the Irish? The criticism is legitimate,
Especially to his core audience of SEC fans.
Until we win a game like this, we'll have to listen to this same line over and over again from the Finebaum's of the world.
To state the obvious, this is an absolutely must win game for ND.

for this game. Only Brady Quinn says ND might give Georgia a good fight but even he doesn’t predict a win for ND. I guess everyone is an ND hater this week.
For whatever that is worth.

Whatever scenario happens, I don't quite see THAT one.
If Georgia opens with three straight scoring drives, the first two unanswered...the rout will be on.
Reminds me of the Bama game some years ago. They steamed rolled ND from the first series on.
Along with our lack of a solid running game. If I was Georgia, I'd play tight press on the receivers to take away our short passing game and blitz. Then take my chances on ND beating them for a big play in the passing assuming the protection holds up. Yeah, Book will probably run for a few first downs on scrambles, but it would probably take away almost all of our passing game and if I'm them I'd accept that our running game might look a little better than expected because even so, it probably won't be enough to win the game. ND's best chance in that scenario is if they recognize what Georgia is doing and run quick hitter runs away from the blitz until Georgia stops crowding the line and then mix in the short passing game Book is best at and a play action for some longer shots when the down and distance isn't third and forever.
On D I'd probably want us to do a lot of the same, except for us the blitz's would be at least as much run blitz's with the hope of also limiting the time for Georgia to run a longer pass pattern. Probably mix in some stunts as well. Our DB's are pretty good, so putting them on an island is probably our best shot. It will be important for the safeties to be sharp to recognize play action and not bite too quick to where they can't provide support for longer passes, but still enough support to help stop the run game. Still probably get burned by some big plays
Hard to see it working but WTF.
Something like UGA opening up 13-0 or 17-0. Then, per the prediction, ND closes to 13-6 or 17-10 by halftime. Something like that. On way to the 27-17 finish. It's kind of silly trying to predict the specific scoring sequence. I'm with you, though: If Georgia opens with three scores to ND's zero . . . not a close game.

the field and we could not move the ball until they went conservative on defense.
