Students and Alums not in top 20
Subalums top 15.
I’m serious. Not a flame.

I don't know what criteria you use to say the fan base is not in the top 20. That the students's aren't. Just asinine.
Are they not drunk enough for you? How rude and assholish do they have to be to climb in your rankings? Are you jealous of the hordes of unwashed, drunken hicks at SEC games?
I invite you to compare experiences at LSU and ND on big home games and tell me which is better.

Granted we are not tulane. Drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.
ND is currently timid compared to our history and our potential.
Too many students taking selfies.
Too many Alums sitting, yawning and fretting.
Subalums seem to be more into the games.
When was the last time you actually attended an ND home or away game?
Were you a phenomenal fan?
I cheer loudly (completely sober.)
There used to be a lot more people like me.
I miss them.
Top draw is not most loved nor most rooted for.
Lots of people hate us,
A Nebraska or Georgia fan base buying tickets on the secondary market and overtaking the stadium. That sucks and should be addressed, though I don’t know how you can.
The stadium is loud for good, big games. No stadium is loud for every game.
Too many really old people and pussies associated with ND who sell their tickets.
Do you think our stadium is EVER as loud as LSU, Georgia, Clemson home games?
Highly doubtful
Never been to Clemson but don’t suspect they have many down in the front fans there. Our crowd is an embarrassment.
Been to a lot of big games at ND. Michigan last year was every bit as loud to me as those other stadiums. Now, it's just my ears and I'm sure it could be measured differently by an instrument but I couldn't tell.
I think the difference in those fans/stadiums is they bring it more often throughout the season. Probably mostly because of conference rivals breed some hatred. ND plays random teams each year and the juice just isn't there.
For the record Seattle Seahwks stadium and the old Hoosier Dome are were the two loudest environments I have been in. I would assume the Saints stadium would be equal too or greater.
Is it's name.....Guessing its a bit loud

There are only 8500 students including grad students so likely only about 6500 students who might even go to the game
That leaves 90% of the stadium to be filled by alumni, subway alumni, or visiting fans
Good question....
Who is quiet? The students, the alums or the subway alums? Or the visitors?
Who knows?
Did you poll them?
We just played a school that has 45000 students, in a stadium that has 93000 seats, in a state where 80% of the UGA grads likely stay in state and dont have to travel far to attend the game
I bet there are 15-20 stadiums EASILY louder than ND.....whose fault is that? Wow, tough question
The total seating has been lowered with the new visitor's tunnel, the bands being in the stands, and new wider spacing of the seats.
I agree that the home noise is a bit of a factor beyond out control due both to size of the school, our location nowhere near a metropolitan area and the average age of the attendees which, to take a random guess, is probably double that of what was at Georgia.
I remember a game where I sat next to a group of 8 of what look to be nuns easily in their 70s. While they paid rapt attention to the game, they never clapped, never stood up and barely spook a word. I am rarely at a game where I don't see the same type of older attendees who seem to be more bothered by fans who stand up than to who's winning the game. Nothing we can do about that but, in the absence of a large student body, the noise levels are rarely going to get like it was a Saturday night.
And if folks what complain about a "sea of red" type games, you have to look no further than the employees of ND who sell their tickets in droves as well as the fact that ND stadium is a "bucket list" place and game for most every opponent we play which typically means the a "big" game allotment of visitors seats are going to soaked up quickly by those fans.
It’s a big school yeah, but their fans drive some distances to get there.
1. PSU = 46,000 students and 200,000 people living in immediate area.
2. ND =10,000 students and maybe 100,000 people living in immediate area.
Beaver stadium is 40% full with students alone while ND is filled about 12%.
3. State College is 3 hours from Pittsburgh,Philadelphia and Baltimore, 4 hours from DC and Cleveland and 4.5 from NY.
ND is 1.5 from Chicago, 2 hours from Indy, 3.5 from Detroit and 4 hours from Cleveland.
Even assuming "equal pain" in going to a game, you want to take a stab at the populations of those respective cities to guess what the numerical difference is?.
4. Notre Dame grads are spread across the country while a much higher % of PSU grads (plus the fact that it is 4 x the size of ND) live much closer to Happy Valley than ND grads live to South Bend.
There was a reason...called the east coast media markets where for decades PSU is big college game in town.....that the Big 10 desperately wanted PSU in the Big 10.
Poor example, poor example. Try again.
incorrect. 3 is also misleading because none of these cities are close to SC while SB is less than 2 hours from Chicago which is bigger than any of these areas other than NYC. Also, you are sadly mistaken if you think NYC, Philly, Baltimore or DC are full of folks who want to drive 4 or 5 hours for a PSU game. And the drive times are much longer game day. The pain of traveling from Chicago or Indy is much less.
I’ve already said the school is much larger, but their fans will travel longer distances, and hate to say it are much more vocal than our down in the front crowds. Go to a white out game there if you don’t believe me. And it pains me greatly to say it.
Poor, poor response.
They very much do travel those distances to get to Happy Valley. I had a good friend who traveled from Kalamazoo (and Chicago when he live here) for weekends of PSU football as often as I took my 2 hour trip to ND as did his son until he moved to the west coast. The middle east coast is absolutely loaded with PSU folks. There always has been a dearth of decent college football on the east coast almost from Boston to The Carolinas which is why PSU used to own the middle atlantic re: recruiting. ND and PSU frequently recruited the same players from NY state, Penn. and NJ particularly.
Chicago may be close but you have multiple loyalties in Chicago ranging from Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana and it is loaded with Illinois/NW folks who for the most part don't really care for ND.
Yes I undercounted the South Bend area ..my bad.... but it still doesn't mitigate the sheer size of PSU as to why they can fill a 100,000 seat stadium and ND doesn't. And the fact remains that there are many times more PSU fans within a reasonable traveling distance to SC than there are ND fans to South Bend.
Your one friend obviously makes you an expert.
I already said that many will travel distances. Most though are not coming from the big eastern cities where CFB isn’t that big of a thing . They are coming from places like where I live and they travel in big numbers. Not so much at ND anymore. ND has plenty of population around it and is one of the biggest programs in the nation. The fanshave just voted with their feet. I also guess that Lincoln Nebraska also has a huge population area to pull from to fill its stadium.
