..them boys hit too hard up at that level to be exposing your most prized position on a routine basis.
I live in DC and saw RGIII sometimes collapse like rag doll when he got hit.

Did we just become best friends?
Link: Yup!
I really haven't seen him play in the NFL. He was certainly amazing in college.
I think RGIII is a valid comparison. Yes, Jackson is doing better than RGIII did, but the principal is much the same. Dynamic runner that has to be accounted for and a good enough passer that he can destroy a d that overcompensates for him running. There are two questions. First, can he manage to run this much over an extended period without getting hurt. If so, yes, he's changing the game. If not, the second question comes into play. Can he be an effective passer when the treat of the run is no longer there? If the answer to 2 is no, then he's a flash in the pan like RGIII and the hysteria will die down when his game comes back down to earth if his running is limited. If the answer to 2 is yes, he's not really changing the game, he's just a very good QB who can run.
I think some teams may re-evaluate the value of run/pass QB's based on his performance this year. If he doesn't get hurt seriously for the next 2 years, everyone and their brother will be looking for the next Jackson and it could change the way the game is played. Even if he does get hurt and has a short shelf life, they may start looking at running QB's like running backs and accept the shorter shelf life for the dynamic boost to the offense before they get hurt. At some point, the odds are that someone will succeed at being a QB with a big running element and not get seriously hurt for at least 5 years, but whether that will just be an outlier or not remains to be seen. If teams start to go in this direction, and I'm sure at least some will, they may start to look at franchise QB's not as 10 or 15 year guys, but 6 or 7 year solutions. And lastly, if they win the super bowl, there will be people copying them because that's what the NFL does. So even if he gets hurt next year or the year after, if they win the super bowl this year, yes, he will have changed the game.

Nice stats for a running back let alone a quarterback. He'll have a great but short career.

Martin, Nelson, Stanley. Quite a group of Notre Dame linemen.
Nick Martin deserves mention as well.
