No, not Alabama because we were never winning that game.
If Baylor didn't upset Kansas State I am confident we would have beaten KSU in the NC game. At the time I didn't think it was that big of a deal considering the roll we were on that season. I would imagine that game kills him.

Even if we 'give' Kelly the Natty in '12 and it wasn't later vacated, his body of work in the other 9 years is not in the same galaxy as Stoops 17 non-Natty seasons... thinking otherwise is pure homer ignorance.
•Kelly won 10+ games in 4 of 9 seasons (44%) and accompanied those with a 4-8 stink bomb
•Stoops won 10+ games in 13 of 17 seasons (76%) with no accompanying stink bombs
Stoops worst season was 7-5 his first year, in his other 17 years he had three 8 win seasons and the rest were: 10-3, 10-3, 11-3, 11-3, 11-2, 11-2, 11-2, 11-2, 12-2, 12-2, 12-2, 12-2, 12-1, 13-0
Kelly has a LONG way to go, even for the imagination of a homer, to be worthy of sniffing Stoops jockstrap.
Early NC, subsequent successful seasons with embarrassing losses both against under-matched opponents and in big games despite strong team potential.
Not sure why you're so obstinate.
14 of 18 seasons as good or better than what Kelly has done in his magical 3...Stoops had five straight 11+ win seasons in his first six years, Kelly is going into his 11th year and isn't close to matching that level of success.
There is no parallel between them moron...I wish there was, we'd be A LOT better off right now.
But I've tried to be civil with you, you're constant retreat to name calling is a poor reflection on you. Must live a miserable life to take messageboard posts so seriously and personally, I feel sorry for you bud.
and funny!

All wins from 2012 were vacated, remember?

comes into play when winning a NC. Good or bad, it had a huge impact on how Kelly is viewed.
1) interviewing with the NFL during our NC prep time (which was a choice not luck
2) how he's done in seasons outside of '12, '15 and '18...3 really good years out of 10 just doesn't cut it
3) most specifically '14 and '16 are simply inexcusable
wouldn’t put him in a different light. You may say it doesn’t, but it would have to lessen the impact of those other things. The possible downside is that it might have been fool’s gold and given him too much leeway.
my meaning was I don't hold not winning it against him as much as the things I listed.
He had us ready to play vs Clemson, I'll give him that...can he continue to do that consistently when we meet big boys is the question, that michigan game put serious doubts on top of my prior doubts, but remains to be seen.

At the very least it would have been a football game. KSU (and ND for that matter) weren't in the same stratosphere as Bama.
The Notre Dame team we saw from OU on was most definitely in the same stratosphere and I think if we played them the week after USC, before the 'Manti fake dead girlfriend' and 'Kelly interview with NFL' bombs dropped, we woulda had a "chance" to beat them.
But that team that showed up in the NC game was not the same as the one at season's end.
Alabama destroyed the middle of the Oline and the defense was on the field too long

And gave me the ut oh look. No words were said, but he knew. I knew. I think we all knew.
