Still waiting for some numbers from defensive players

I'm looking at Jones leaving ND early as a good thing. In that Tyree, Williams & Smith were going to get the lion's share of the carries in 2020 & Jones was going to be passed over, he realized this & that's why he declared for the draft.
Then a more realistic part of myself realizes that this probably isn't the case & I get even more pessimistic about the RB situation for the upcoming season.

The big question is will Tyree be able to pass-block effectively?
If a RB cannot do that, he rides the bench. This was/is the reason that Dexter Williams/C'Bo Flemister did not see more game action (at least that's the rumor).
needs to gain weight.

Who? Tremble?
and it seems unlikely he’ll be drafted at this point in time.”

from scrimmage to basically put the Iowa St Cyclones away..
Too bad he couldn't come anywhere near that vs UGA or UM.

I'd ban your ass in a second.

he wants to get to the NFL. He's shown he can block, run for power and catch. The one thing holding him back is speed, which is unlikely to change. He'll probably not get drafted, but will probably make it to someones camp. From there it's all about where he goes (opportunity) and if he can show them enough to keep him on at least the practice squad.

If he can shave off another tenth of a second from that 40 time, and demonstrate some more reps, he should be able to climb back into the late round draft status. Right now, he's squarely in free agent territory (not preferred free agent).

I'm more curious about what Kelly DIDN'T see in Ezekiel Elliot or AJ Dillon who were both ND leans until Kelly cooled on them or vice versa after he started mentioning position changes to them.

Christian McCaffrey did 10 reps. Brady Quinn did about 200.
You get my point.

Second worst numbers among running backs in both 40 time and bench reps. No wonder the ND running game was bad.
Did I miss something? Were people expecting Jones to be fast all of the sudden?
and 21 running backs with better bench numbers than Jones and 26 running backs with better 40 times. The point should be obvious. If Jones was the number one back simply because he could block, next year’s running game may also suck.
Now you are nitpicking numbers to unnecessarily bash a ND man. I think it's safe to assume the NFL doesn't extend combine invites to players they think suck. Why in the world do you feel it's necessary to shit on Jones?

I am glad this came out because I think the oline rushing protection was wrongly accused for the poor running game. NDs rushing was good with J. Adams and D. Williams. Last year, ND had no good running backs. I am afraid that, unless Chris Tyree can break through, the same will happen again next year. Armstrong doesn't seem to be the answer.
