was the first ACC coach to take his team to 100 wins. He also beat Bobby Bowden’s FSU team that had won 29 games without a loss.
I lived in Alexandria Va during those years and went to many games in Charlottesville. Not a big stadium but great Saturdays.
I thought I would use this opportunity to point out there are other great coaches that won many games, some they had no chance to win. Good man and great coach.
So Don stack Welsh’s record against any coach that didn’t have the football name nor recruits that did well with a whole lot less. That’s coaching.
Are you trying to argue that BK is a bad coach?
You're killing yourself if you're argument is he isn't a "coach-em-up" coach. ND outperforms our average recruiting class ranking by a decent margin. If anything, it's the failure to finish in that top 5-7 range on a yearly basis that is a legit gripe. What does that have to do with George Welsh?
BTW, I too spent a few years in Charlottesville. Absolutely beautiful place, and the Campus is gorgeous. I lived there when the Unite the Right invasion happened. Terrible shame.

The college football world has changed just a tad.
On s side note, Welsh was always rumored as ND head coach candidate.
So I guess 30 years ago makes ND’s last championship under Holtz not relevant today? Okay.

If winning streaks were the goal more than winning a National Championship look under Big Game Coaches.
