ND football needs to be iNDepeNDent to stay competitive.
If I'm Swarbrick, I don't want ND in it when it does.

If FSU, Miami and Clemson hit "free agency" and link up with either SEC or Big 10, ND won't have much of a choice. Staying in a 3rd class ACC isn't a choice.
For what it's worth, the notion of Stanford joining the ACC is downright goofy unless it includes a West coast "division" that might be constructed with remnants of the Big 12 and PAC 12. Stanford. itself has little concern with any eastern affiliation and is probably more likely to downgrade its athletics than join a conference where essentially every team is in the Eastern time zone.
And frankly who gives a fuck about Navy when it comes to high level college athletics as they would be more likely to join the Ivy league than sign up for any league where they would be virtually doomed to go 1-11 every year.
