As far as national exposure no. Not yet. The BIG TEN is now coast to coast. As far as football programs yes. Clemson is the only team outside the SEC that could beat Bama'. The Irish played in one National Championship game & two playoffs under Kelly. What the talking heads aren't taking into consideration is the history of Miami & Florida St. Those two are sleeping giants. When they played each other those were can't miss games. Notre Dame - Miami. There wasn't a bigger rivalry in the country. If the ACC could bring in Kansas for basketball and maybe Oregon & Stanford THEY are now coast to coast. Stanford brings in academics and Oregon brings in Nike. Notre Dame now plays five ACC games. Add three more for a conferance schedule & have the ACC add a semi final game. Stanford stays on the schedule. Keep Navy. USC is a great rivalry but who the hell thought they would be in the BIG TEN. They serve no purpose now. Notre Dame belongs in the BIG TEN but the ACC has value. This next year will probably change the course of Notre Dame History. Who would have thunk it.
And hasn't Ohio State also beaten Alabama in recent history en route to a national championship? (btw, they also beat that vaunted Nike-magnet Oregon program you mention as being a good potential ACC addition in your post in the final that year to win the championship.)
All 3 are historically pretty strong, and UW is only a few years away from a CFB playoff appearance. All 3 are in key TV markets as well. Any conference that has ND will get TV $$$s. ND would be most powerful in the ACC, and maintaining a semblance of academic integrity would be buoyed by adding those schools. Colorado makes sense too from a TV perspective. Adding one or both of the AZ schools might make sense.
Fixed that for you. ND needs iNDepeNDence but if forced to join might as well join the best conference that will get ND the most exposure. How about a football and basketball rivalry with Kentucky? They are neighboring states. Regular games with SC(South Carolina) and Florida. How can you have the world's biggest cocktail party without any Irish. Face it academics don't mean anything for college sports and haven't in ages.

When Kelly was there and they were winning big those uniforms were all over the country. With ND in their conferance their brand stays national.
