When talking about giving up big chunk plays for TDs, MF gave both reasons for the defensive lapses. But, giving up the big 2nd half plays didn't start with BYU, so , something is getting lost in translation. MF said it's lack of execution but don't blame the players. Come again. In last two games, the "D" has given up TD passes of 80, 64, and 53. All second half. All whittled away at a big lead. There are a few opponents on our schedule who have this circled in red. So, if it's better coaching needed, fix it before it hurts. TD passes of 31 and 24 from OSU hurt. If it's player execution, fix it before it hurts. I'm not the only one who has noticed this problem. MF spent some time talking about it at today's presser. You figure after the Carolina 80 yard home run ball, this problem would have been taken care of.
the Florida St. game last year. With the level of talent and experience on this defense both this year and last year, this shit is inexcusable. It goes beyond a poorly executed safety blitz. The linebackers are constantly out of position. The run defense is not consistent and gives up too many long runs. The pass defense has actually played much worse than the numbers indicate this year because on several occasions they were beaten and were saved by the opposing team's lack of execution.

Do most of these breakdowns not typically happen in the second half later in games?
They seem to be rotating a lot of guys in and out on defense. So it would seem unlikely that fatigue would be the issue.
2nd half of OSU, certainly not Cal,Could it be a factor, sure but I don't think it's main issue here.
So when tosu just ran the ball down our throat at will in 2nd half and we looked too exhausted to do anything about it, even when we knew it was coming...that didn't look like conditioning?
We were flying to the ball in the first half, was our halftime adjustment to not fly to the ball in second half?
If it’s still his defense in terms of schematics, why aren’t they dominating especially the D line? I can’t imagine UC had better overall talent when he was there, granted the two UC corners last year were top notch.
