There is one person on this staff who has the ultimate responsibility of talent evaluation for ALL players on this team on BOTH sides of the ball...you might even say he has the final word, the veto card even.
But somehow he escapes your scorn...maybe because you said he was ready so you don't want to admit the truth, he's not.

I'm not trying to indicate Freeman caused the problem, he didn't, we have seen this for YEARS under Belly, on BOTH sides of the ball.
But if he doesn't have the knowledge, ability or the stones to FIX it now, then he now IS the problem. He's the HC not DC.
I will point out just 3 examples of personnel situations (I'm sure there are many more), where a legit HC would have done something but Freeman failed by doing nothing, and we lost the game "probably" because of his inaction.
1) the bowl game - a legit HC would have recognized that all season long, over multiple games, we saw Coan look good early only to slump later in the game. And numerous times, either Buchner or Pyne was brought in to successfully spark the offense and save what looked like certain losses from occurring. In the bowl we saw the same trend repeat itself, only this time instead of reacting how we had all season, the HC allowed the OC to make the call to go all in on Coan. Epic Fail!
2 & 3) the Stanford game - a legit HC would recognize that during your 3 game win streak (only 3 wins of the season) where in 2 games Pyne played really good and 1 game he played poorly, there was a common thread in all 3. Estime was the leading rusher for the first time in all 3 wins. Any head coach worth a shit would not have allowed 3 quarters of the Stanford game to pass by with that RB chilling on the sidelines.
Additionally when Merriweather shows on 2 plays he could easily get behind the Stanford defense at will, which no other receiver on the roster has shown the ability to do, he disappeares the rest of the game.
These were both situations where Freeman should have been grabbing Rees or the position coach by the proverbial face mask and saying WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!?! ...you get those two on the field and into this game plan RIGHT NOW or start working on your resume.
Freeman failed here, big time and if he just 'acted' like a HC in these 3 situations he's likely 5-2 as a HC right now instead of 3-4 and the trajectory of the program looks a bit differently.
My post was aimed specifically at the person who deliberately said 'offensive coaches' as opposed to just coaches as an intentional act to shift focus away from Freeman. He has to, he was the mass purveyor of 'Freeman is ready' 'Freeman is special' 'HC experience doesn't matter' 'Freeman is the only choice' just like he was the mass purveyor of 'Kelly 2.0', and just like then he's defending his baby to the bitter end by any means necessary.

Are playing more than merriwewther, we have some major issues in talent evaluation. I know we aren’t at practice to see what goes on, but really?
proven to be very capable
that saved us from stupidity.

That “know” the system but can’t make a play, something ain’t right.
But Tobias should be playing now considering the fact that guys seem to get worse as they get older on ND not to mention he has superior god given ability advantages. So that’s development or the lack thereof if they don’t get the better . Lenzy never got any better and styles right now seems less reliable than last year. Now there may be reasons for this that we are unaware of but to the observer that seems a little hard to accept. Maybe it’s all due to poor QB play?
Either way I can’t believe a top 100 receiver sits behind a former walk on a team that is 3-3.

They have more talent and we don’t utilize ours.

Roster but we need to get deeper on talent. Freeman’s recruiting may accomplish that if he can keep it up and then use/develop.
But shortcoming on QB and receiver talent seems obvious to this point development is beyond debate

There's a world of difference between college and NFL playbooks. Unfortunately we have a DC who just came from years in the NFL, and an OC who is dying to get there.

My wife grew up in Green Bay, so I tend to watch them.
Same offensive sets. Same slow developing running plays. Similar WR bunch sets and routes.
The big difference is no Aaron Rodgers
