Note especially that they held the nation's #1 rushing attack 25 yards below their per game average and 1.2 ypc under their average.
And how many of these 9 teams have a better passing attack than ND to help free up the running game?
Navy has played two teams in the top 50 in rushing offense, one being Air Force. The rest are below 70. Take into consideration that the teams they play are playing weak defenses all year. Saying their rush defense is anything close to as good as Clemsons based on stats is foolish. Now, that doesn’t mean we will run for 300 yards. Our Oline seems to not dominate as expected against smaller, faster fronts but it seems they may have simplified some things to diminish that speed advantage. The real question is does the coaching staff stuck to the run game even tho there will be limited possessions?

In fact, I'm positive I didn't.

Better than ND did?

I assume that would mean as long as ND executes well, we would see better results against Navy.
ND may be capable of running for 300 yard’s tomorrow but not do it because they pass for 300

well when 9 men are defending 7.

If last weekend wasn't a fluke and we are who we think we are, then we should be going in with the intent to fuck their World up beyond recognition and make them regret lacing up against us.
We are the vastly more talented team, our D is on the cusp of becoming elite, our special teams are red hot, we have a dominant O-line with a stud filled backfield...we dictate to them not the other way around. Kelly would have run away from their run D in favor of his analytics...he's gone! Let that weak minded shit be gone with him.
Run it down their fucking throats and beat them into submission!
If they are set to top the run, Pyne has to beat them a bit with play action, then after they loosen we can bury them with the run.
of things isn't how you become great.
They are a great run defense, ok, show me!
We think we're a great run offense, ok, let's show them!
We should be perfecting our run game because that is how we demolish USCs defense and win a game against a team with superior offensive firepower
Clemson has 1000 times the talent on D, knew what ND was going to do and still had the ball run down their throats
Whether they have 10× the size, skill, speed and talent or not. I'm glad you aren't coaching the lads.
As a coach I would be pretty confident with being able to run the ball against Navy based on recent performance

That's how you fail.
Run it right at 'em and down their throats? Sounds good to me. Do it by taking them seriously though. That's the only way to prepare.
Being awesome isn't easy, it's hard ass work. Freeman as a first year HC should have them working hard as hell. The players after 3 losses, 2 of them terribly embarrassing should definitely be working hard now that they've had a taste of greatness.
I'm not implying that we roll the ball out there and say we're running on you, so lay down.
I'm saying if we bust our asses and play to the maximum of our ability, even though it won't be easy...the end result should be a huge mud hole stomped in their ass.
Not taking them lightly, not saying it's easy....Greatness isn't easy, but if Greatness is what we aspire towards then kicking their ass at what we do best should be our goal. Mixing in some passes to loosen them up sure, but run from running on them like Kelly typically did...absolutely not, that is a weak mentality and it's how you foster weakness in your team.
If we think we are a great running team, then let's prove it. If they think they have a great run defense....prove it, stop us!
My main point of the thread is that a lot of people mistakenly think we are going to run trough them like a hot knife through butter "because they are Navy and they suck."
I'm not suggesting to not try and run on them. We are a running team, it's what we have to do. But, it will be hard and the lads need to show up and bust their asses knowing it will be hard.

Welcome back
He can't hardly beat Radford, but he runs a clean program and that's all that matters, apparently.

I am not worried. If we play like we did vs Clemson, we will destroy University of Navy.

Also, our offensive line is in a much better category than any of those teams.
