I stop-actioned quite a few plays. The missed TD throw to Mayer is a throw 95% of D1 QBs make. Pyne was responsible for 3 of his 5 sacks.
When it comes to this, can we blame Rees for not coaching him "correctly," or is Pyne just not getting it? Since none of us are there, none of us can say who bears the responsibility. (I reject the crowd that automatically blames the coach as if the player is always coachable.)
Didn't like the prevent defense on Navy's last TD drive, either. But it appears we have a real problem with Pyne being able to play well for 4 quarters.
that this near catastrophe results in better plays from Rees, and faster reads/reactions by Pyne...given our OL and RBs, we could get even stronger as a result...
btw, I watched the DVR too and saw a couple of 'iffy' calls sustain Navy drives in the 2nd half...definitely aided their scoring.
He seems to have 0 pocket awareness and the timer in his head that most QBs seem to have never "goes off" for him and he holds the ball for sacks and losses 4-6 times every game.
so they knew how to wreak havoc...in the first half he (and Rees) did pretty well...let's not throw dirt on either one just yet...wait till the end of the season before making any decisions.

His career stats show 58 rushing attempts for -127 yards in 43 games. Not all those attempts were sacks, so he obviously knew how to throw the ball away.
It just may be Pyne isn’t getting it.

No, you didn't find a way to win. Time ran out. There was nothing the team did in the 2nd half that could be interpreted as "finding a way to win". This was coach speak repeat from the post game pep talk.
also found an effective way to piss away a large lead in the second half. This won't be the last time this happens as long as TR is at ND.
