After watching the HS AA football game yesterday, you cannot help think what might have been.
1. QB Dante Moore threw for 4 TDs and won the MVP. He was ours to lose; and, unfortunately, we did. Oregon-Michigan State-Ohio State, and then, UCLA wins it at the wire. What else could it be but NIL?
2. Edge rusher Keon Keeley was ours, too, until Nick Saban came calling. Saban sacked our future sack master.
Outside of the HS AA game, there were two others.
3. RB/Slot WR Dylan Edwards, who is considered by some as the fastest player in the country. We poached him from Kansas St., but became the poachees when Deion, the flim-flam man, grabbed him.
4. 5 star S Peyton Bowen. We need safeties desperately and this was our guy. Well, we thought he was our guy until he put on the Oregon hat, and then flipped to Oklahoma the next day.
Four superstars were lost.
Think how good we would be if we held on to those guys.
Will this happen every year?
Is there anything Marcus can do?
Will NIL make it impossible for us to compete?
Is a collective bargaining agreement for recruits our only hope?
Ranked the composite 186 player in the country. ND signed 11 guys ranked higher, including a RB and 2 WRs.
Keeley and PBowen We're NOT 5* when they committed and Freeman was in on them early. So what that tells me is Freeman and Co can recognize talent and will be in more big-time talent moving forward. Folks are acting like those that flip all went to the same school. One to Okla, one to Colo, one to Bama, one to Oregon. But you forget ND flipped Minchey, Kaleb Smith, Chris Terek, Boubcar Traoure and Armel Mukam. That's FIVE flips...you can't be mad when you flip and you get flipped. Part of the game if you want to recruit the best. He did a great job for his FIRST dang yr. Natl DPOY and Natl HS Butkus winner, #3 overall apb, #1 PLAYERS IN ILL, MO, IND, MA, all are Irish. And the most prolific QB in ACC history is now Irish. That's another 5* recruit. Freeman is doing quite well
I'd add that signing on the dotted line doesn't mean as much as it used to with the advent of the transfer portal. Texas A&M signed the #1 class of all time (sounds more impressive than it is, but I digress) and now much of that class is in the portal.
And TAMU has the most transfer this year. I really think all of the things folks are so scared about have balances built in. Teams with NIL classes will ultimately fall apart bec a kid can help his fam and himself with the money but he has to live, eat, and breathe a culture that might be toxic and ultimately he may leave for the school he should've went to anyway. That being said, ND should really consider their transfer policy bec if a kid qualifed as a HS student no reason he shouldn't be able to transfer. Maybe he comes in a reclassified freshman and is admitted based on his HS transcripts and he just ends up wasting some credits that dont transfer. Small price to pay honestly. You can make it up later.

5* that sits for 3 years and leaves with little interest and not very much improved.
It’s time to give up because a kid threw 4 TD’s in a scrimmage where QB’s don’t have to read blitzes or coverages.
It all about what you didn’t get rather than what you did.
Under recognized coaches that send players to the NFL at the marquis positions.
Would you want to come play for Tommy Rees?
That bolt. Like someone said before the guys grab an insurance policy and see what’s out there. Those guys u just have to keep trying to get. Carr is the next one in that group. Let’s see if we can golds in to him.

Carr with him. If he does poorly, there is the risk of Carr leaving for a better QB coach. But I don’t think that either of those things will happen. I think Carr has seen ND, researched ND, and wishes to be part of the family of ND which is quite unique. It think he chose ND first and foremost for ND, the coach is a very nice benefit. I think Carr is all in. Just my impression.
change from high school to college at a major university. Even Trevor didn't start in the beginning.
Job though. Not sure that has much to offer him. NFL seems like more of a career trajectory

Play smash mouth football until the playoffs perhaps. And even then it might not matter. If u can outscore the other guys u are going to be 12-1 after a conference title game in almost all conferences.
Bottom line is we need an offender that puts up 40 a game against everyone we play. That is on Reese and freeman to figure out.
short field either, except for the long pass to Lenzy after I believe a poor punt.
