During the interview just ask them if ND is what you want or if they are a lateral job hopper type
Taking a defensive coordinator job is different than simply a “bonifide” job hopper like what Lauranitis pulled going from grad asst to grad asst

EVERY single college football coach is a ‘job hopper’. Look at the resume of any college coach. I’m thankful we had Lauranitis for one year. He is a former teammate and friend of Marcus Freeman. OSU fans were pissed when we landed him. They extended him a job, and he took it. Good for him.
Just shut your pie hole.

……Marcus was doing his friend a solid.

I've seen many postdocs go from one postdoc position to another, because that's all that was available, because the postdoc had to move for the sake of his spouse, because he wanted to come back to his alma mater, because the new position paid better with fewer hours, etc.
It's not entirely unusual for a GA to take another GA position elsewhere because of any of the above reasons, especially if it's at his alma mater. I don't fault Laurinitis for taking the job at tOSU.
I'm grateful to him for his time here, and hope that he was able to pass on his wisdom to the players.

So, I'm sad to see him go b/c he's intense AF, but I also assumed that this was a pit stop for him in the first place. He's not an ND guy, so if his moving to OSU opens the channel to OSU-ND grad transfers, then maybe it's not the worst thing in the world.
I think many of us would agree with that decision if that was the case.
