Taylor was so good, that he ended up starting as a true freshman at the field cornerback position when Greg Lane was a bit gimpy in 1992.
After Lane came back from that injury, he ended up bumping John "Shaft" Covington from the safety spot, and ol' Shaft was put at nickel. Keep in mind, Shaft was still drafted the year after.
Morrison's cover abilities actually look a bit better than Taylor's at this stage, and he's going to be one of our best.

reminds me of a Deon Sanders or Charles Woodson (other than going back to Holtz days), were pretty soon you know teams will start throwing away from him and you can actually base your defensive game plan on that.

Walton was actually pretty slow-footed for a defensive back, but was one of the best at anticipation and reaction, not to mention, his being one of the best at reading receivers before and during their routes.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that if he were able to run a 4.50, he would have been a perennial Pro Bowler in the pros.
I don't think I've seen anyone better at squatting and blowing up many a short to medium range passing lane. The man's football IQ was at the top of the charts.
His biggest weakness was the lack of footspeed, and that a speedy receiver who could cut hard could run past him after 15 yards. Still, when you had Glenn Earl and Gerome Sapp at the safety position, that was a nice safety net to have, and his below average speed wasn't an issue in the college game, except against USC.
I was a bit surprised that he had finally gotten into coaching just a few years ago. With his smarts, he could have easily risen through the ranks.

Pretty sure one is alot more significant than the other
if he stays healthy will be a first rounder.
The two players in question are simply not close to the same caliber. If you need to turn to popularity lists to debate this, why don't you compare which list Walton made as a Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior..?
Because Morrison is doing as good or better than what Walton did as a Senior, while he was a true Frosh.
Not shitting on Walton, but these two aren't comparable. Only thing that prevents Morrison from being 1st team All American and 1st round draft pick is injury, not how good he is.
Best close quarters CB we've ever had PERIOD! Nobody could open within 15-20 yards on him

Look, truth is I hate these types of debate, because I loved Walton, he was a damn baller. BUT, truth is he wasn't a true corner...he played there out of necessity, because our CB recruiting at the time was pretty trash, and to his credit he played great. However, his skill set is better suited for Safety.
If Shane Walton was on our roster this year, he would be starting but it would be at Safety next to Watts, and oh what a marvelous secondary that would be. Morrison and Hart at the corners, Walton as the deep ball hawking Safety and Watts as the run enforcer.
Anyway, I don't want to talk Walton down, he was great but he was moved to Safety in the league for a reason while Morrison is a legitimate elite CB type.

Turned out to be a heck of a football player.

The majority of the last 2 decades we come out flat and reactive. If freeman could correct one thing I would love to see that games intensity and preparedness for each game.

We'd dominated them all night, but had they punched in a touchdown there, it would have been 21-7 with more than 10 minutes left to play. A 3-and-out right after would have put some pressure on us and put an uncomfortable feel to the situation.
It's doubtful we'd have blown the game, but it probably would have turned into one of those 27-17 kind of wins that are nice to have but don't stir the confidence up that a real blowout does.

Here's a little secret. Benjamin ran right towards me for the score. I was lucky enough to get the whole view as I had a direct sight line from beginning to end. I had an Irish lass, who I didn't know, pounding on my back in excitement during that play. LOL.
