Hartman sorta, kinda delivered.
However factor out the 3 non-Power 5 games and his TD / INT numbers are 15 / 8
% Completion drops from 63.5 to 60.4
Yards per Attempt drops from 8.9 to 8.1

has a long career as a backup.

Either way, he'll have a better chance of staying employed in the NFL than Ian Book did. He has a stronger arm (average to above average strength), and with a better prepared set of receivers, he could have done so much more here.
Nothing to take away from Ian's accomplishments. I'm damned proud of what he was able to do at ND.
He was able to squeeze every drop of potential from his natural abilities, which compared to a Trevor Lawrence, CJ Stroud, etc., were very limited. He also certainly proved that a 3 star player with the right attitude and work ethic can become a big time player in college.

opened up possibilities for guys like Hartman.
He was a good, but not great college QB. He does not have the physical measurables normally being looked for at the NFL level, but he certainly has the cognitive QB ability and leadership.

football may be a real issue for him in this regard.

I'd peg him there or undrafted FA.
But I do think he'll make a team as the backup and likely have a long career as a backup, maybe start some games if he's on a good enough team to rest starters before the playoffs.
