Refused to take Yost’s name off the hockey arena. They believe his football legacy overshadows his racism and hate of Catholics. Blackballed the Irish from the Big 10
Always has, always will.

Notre Dame beat Michigan in 1909 and they were scheduled for another game in 1910, but before the game Michigan coach Fielding H. Yost protested Notre Dame's intended use of two players that he believed were ineligible. Notre Dame refused to bench the players and so Michigan canceled the game and Yost refused any further games with Notre Dame. Yost went so far as to influence the other schools in the then-Western Conference (predecessor to the Big Ten), to refuse to admit Notre Dame to the conference or to schedule games with them (there was a lot of anti-Catholic language used). Because the Western Conference largely would not schedule them, the Irish scheduled games against schools on the east and west coast, which is how our USC rivalry began. It helped the Irish become a national program.
Now, if the Big 10 wants us, I say too bad.
But we can't forgive Michigan for something from 1910?

for some of you and just wondering why.
I have ND buds from Michigan and they absolutely despise Michigan. Trauma from childhood taunts and proximity to their arrogant fanbase.
Michigan fans have a displaced sense of the program's standing in college football. My dislike for them starts with Fielding Yost and extends to their multiple claimed bogus natty's. Their inferiority complex to ND was on full display during Bo's infamous 'to hell with ND' rant. And there can be no question that they cheated this year, so there's that.
Like you, there are others I dislike more. USC will always be my most disliked opponent, followed by Miami and Florida State.

I have lived in A2 for decades and never developed any enmity for the Wolverines... but then I really don't waste my precious human energy on negative emotions.
The SEC makes no such claims. Other schools embrace their inner football factory.
The buying out of contracts to get out of challenging nonconference games (UCLA and Arkansas) was particularly cowardly, but now they point to NEXT YEAR’s involuntary conference schedule (after infusion of better teams) as a defense for their actions.
And it is no new….UM actually had a fake major set up for its athletes for years (kinesiology) which Harbaugh himself called out while at Stanford….soUM responded by creating a different major to accomplish the same thing without the bad rep (General studies).
as a program. Moreso than any other school I can think of, SCUM beats the drum of integrity while being some of the biggest cheaters on the planet.
