he evacuated the entire coastal regions in Florida he would have been criticized for over reacting. I could see it coming from the D’s and the MSM. I would put the blame on the National Hurricane Center. They fucked the forecast.
Not to fear they can new jobs at the CDC, DOE and there is always Tulane.
occurred, and their county leadership didn't order an evacuation until 24 hours before Ian hit.
IMO, given what we've learned about how vulnerable that area was...with one road out of the offshore island portion of the county, etc, the local officials didn't do their job...not sure how much responsibility DeSantis has, or those in his chain of command.
I'd also say that Ron's real challenge is just beginning...i.e. what 'Changes' will he implement to make sure this doesn't happen again...including substantive changes for Insurance, Zoning, Relief Funding...and so forth...will he care more about developers' financial well being, or the safety of FLA citizens?

His two claims - the media is blaming DeSantis, and the forecasts were off - are demonstrably false.
this Politico article goes into more detail on evacuation orders and the National Hurricane Center's view of Ian's path...
The NHC and others make a strong case for not focusing on the "Skinny Black Line" of any hurricane's track...as you have said, the Florida officials needed to look at the "Cone" of where the storm might end up.

The forecast cone was sent about four days in advance. And it was right.
I appreciate your effort to capture the Dumbest Poster title, though.
close attention to the updates. We had to figure out whether to get my daughter out of the center of the state or keep her there. When it was going to hit Tampa, we were going to leave her at college. The day before it hit, it made a major move East and we brought her home.
The closer it got to impact the further East it moved. So much so that the little town I live in got very little rain and wind.
Where it was going to fall in that cone was always a bit unclear. These things wobble.
But for about a week we all knew that the west coast of Florida was going to get hit.
That’s like saying they were right because they said it was going to hit Florida. It went from hitting the big bend area to Tampa to Charlotte Harbor all within 2-3 days. Each update was different and it caused the cone to move with it. We went from getting sandbags to thinking we needed more sandbags to not needing them at all. So saying it’s going to hit “the west coast of Florida” is not some major accomplishment.

Fort Myers.
And the exact landing is never knowable - but the cone is. And the cone was right on.
And more importantly, I have seen no one blaming DeSantis.
So I will give you a break.
The "cone of uncertainty" is called that for a reason.
And the cone was placed correctly.
You should post less.
