…..the QB was sacked, and TN moved in for FG to go up 23-7.
Interviewed going in to the tunnel and asked about why he would do that, Kelly alluded to the “analytics” by saying,
“ yeah, that’s a go there, BUT YOU CAN’T GIVE UP A SAC THERE”.
1) No analytics says to go for it there - it turned a 2 score game into essentially a 3 score game unless you can make good on two 2pt conversions
2) Kelly threw his OL under the bus in classic Kelly fashion, and would never consider that his own dumbass call would be at fault since the team knew they could bring the kitchen sink.
He also made several other idiotic decisions. But I am not counting his recurrent foolishness of taking the kickoff which was fumbled on the opening play today, or the horrendous special teams of Brian Polian, or the horrid, no imagination offense of Mike Denbrock.
I think Kelly knew he was toast when the coaches and players didn’t follow him - except Polian (Denbrock had been fired and was at Cincinnati when Kelly hired him), and an erratic punter. But he will get his paycheck which he cared about the most (next perhaps to his ego).
