Grutter v Bollinger may be at an end this next June 2023. Back in 2002 when the SCOTUS narrowly approved this ruling, the majority opinion writer Sandra day O'Connor said that "The SCOTUS believes that race based admissions won't even be necessary 25 years from now" implying that there was an equity line, a finish line if you will that was expected to be reached, and that the ruling was never meant to be permanent. It has been 21 years next Spring since that ruling.
