This is a political crisis for Biden, not a national existential crisis.
We shouldn't be depleting the SPR...especially if the Democrats refuse to fill it back up when the price of oil is low, as Schumer did.
This is a non-partisan issue for me. If a Republican were doing it, I would call him out.
The SPR should be for real crises that threaten the nation...not for trying to save some pennies on gas at the pump.

The reserve is not only for “existential” crises
A low oil price is in the vital national interest of the United States. Our prosperity is directly related to the price of oil.
This is why we have a strategic reserve.
Nonsense. It is the strategic reserve, not the "comfort reserve" or the "pre-election reserve."
It is for actual threats to the nation, not transitory discomforts to the nation. If you think the depletion of our reserve is justified, then inflation is a far more serious threat to us than Biden is willing to admit.
