Murderers and miscreants love them, because they're so easy to fool and they offer them things for free.
Again, unless you're a total pacifist, I'm completely uninterested in your rationalizations and the argument that "The state should not be in the business of taking lives." You believe in wars and sending weapons to countries to kill, so you do indeed believe in the right of the state to kill. I'm particularly uninterested if you are among those who wished death on the unvaccinated. You have no moral standing.
Naturally, the lefties involved in this effort have tried to invoke "transphobia" as a reason that this specimen should not have his appointment with death. Disgusting.

already, at least 190 death row inmates have been exonerated...but for the lack of funding for legal representation, DNA analysis, etc, that number would be much higher...plus the death penalty accomplishes nothing positive...nor does it inhibit homicides.

to assuring Justice in the most severe of crimes and sentences...think before you post.
The Justice system is flawed?
Who new?
40% of murders go unsolved.
Not much justice for the victims there.
Huff and puff all you like.
Beats a link to the Washington Post.
there are majorities who believe that the death penalty does not deter murders...and that innocent people can be convicted.
Think about it...only a rational person would be deterred from committing murder by the death penalty...virtually none of the perpetrators would be called 'rational'...either they have severe mental illness, or the crime is one of passion...plus, the death penalty doesn't make anything "right".

It's a very contentious issue...only a quarter of the people "strongly" support the death penalty...

for legal efforts on thei behalf that proved beyond doubt that they were not guilty of those crimes...who knows how many before them WERE EXECUTED because there wasn't an opportunity to intervene?
Again, it's a contentious issue and you're no alone in your view...but as the polling shows...a MAJORITY have concerns about this practice...and do not believe that it serves the purpose of deterring future offenses.
I'm not asking you to change your mind here...just reflect on some facts you may not have known about previously.
You are iron clad. Invincibly inane.

nation or group because a totally innocent person might be killed.
Why stop there? Let's eliminate life sentences because taking 50 years of lives from people wrongfully convicted is not worth it compared to justifiably locking up the vast majority of convicts among this group who actually did commit the crimes. You think releasing 70 year-old men after half-centuries behind bars unjustly constitutes one bit of "making things right?" Please.
Especially heinous hate crimes and hideous sex crimes (particularly against minors).
Both sides will present what they think are iron clad arguments for
and against the deterrent effect.
If I honestly had to guess I would suspect
fewer innocent people are killed by execution.
therefore, it accomplishes nothing.
btw, "Lefties" abhor murderers as much as "Righties"...go find something else to complain about.

I’m complaining about nothing.
I simply suggested an alternative point of view.
I respect Hibakusha’s thinking entirely.
Your “data” is iron clad, right?
Isn’t that what I predicted?

Your data is stupid. Your data provides absolutely no evidence that the llinois murder rate would go up if they implemented the death penalty and no reason that Georgia's would go down if they removed it.
There are so many variables that attribute to an area's murder rate. Attempting to draw conclusions from a single attribute is utterly fucking stupid.
Saintly people. Most of them probably falsely accused.
His data is iron clad.
As I predicted.
and to have so many people wrongfully convicted of a capital crime must not be tolerated...above and beyond the non-productive nature of the executions.
Attached is another person's perspective...not sure it will slake your anger...but worth considering.

deterrence, but also as the ultimate expression of the community against depraved behavior. It was a clear of stating that "we," rather than the state, "are doing this to you (murderer/rapist/violator of children."
Probably should have done in in 92 when he raped a child.
