He's a victim of the odd sense that some positions should produce HRs, while some (SS) don't have to for some reason.

He was a 3X batting champion.
He's clearly better than 2 other catchers in the Hall. Arguably better than another 2.

Through out his career, and wouldn't have got this. Terrific hitter.
Then again I think many guys from the 70s and 80s should be in. That's when they were larger-than-life for me.
Madlock was a good player, but I don't think his full body of work stacks up with the all-time greats. He was a below average fielder. And while his lifetime B.A. that exceeds .300 is terrific, most of those were singles. He didn't get many extra-base hits, and for a guy that batted 3rd most of his career, he didn't drive in a lot runs. He never had a 100-R.B.I. season, never finished in the Top 5 of M.V.P. voting, and made 3 All-Star teams in 15 years.
I don't see how he's a Hall-of-Fame guy. He's about at the Willie McGee level.
Somethings are worth posting over and over again...
Link: That was one magic loogie.

I hope Pete Rose never gets in.
