Putin made mistake & admitted it to Russian people. He could've taken Donbas in 2014. Instead he
Trusted Merkel and signed Minsk deal. Merkel recently said the Minsk agreement was an attempt to give Ukraine time to build up its military and avoid 10k Ukrainian troops encircled being annihilated which is a lot for Ukraine in 2014. This is just openly telling Putin and the world, yes we deceived you then. Fortunately it's is not too late for Putin to correct his mistake.

There is plenty of room to disagree. People who desperately want this war to end are not doing Putin’s work in the United States.

There's recent video of Ukraine prepping nerve gas grenades. Could be disinfo and a pre-curser
to give Russia an excuse to use the same, but it's an example of war having unpredictable outcomes. When the West does nothing to prevent a war, it should not be surprised by an asymmetric outcome.
Putin could care less. He just wants his Soviet Union back.
UKraine was merely step 3 of a long term plan. The Baltic states were next and then Moldova and then the former Warsaw Pact countries.
Unfortunately he is pursuing a 19th century agenda with a 19th century military.
