He might overtake Gretzky in total goals, but he'll never be thought of as the GOAT. I am curious to hear the board's view on where he ranks.
I once said on here that Gretzky has a greater consensus as hockey's GOAT than any other player in any sport. MAS mocked me for this, citing cycling or ping pong or some such bullshit (he's the expert, remember). But in the world of real sports, the question of GOAT creates more controversy in every other sport than in hockey. There is only one Gretzky, and it is hard to imagine anyone overtaking him.
sure that barring injury, it will be Connor McDavid who will make the best run at The Great One's status.

the knees. Big slices up and down the leg. He became a human guinea pig for knee surgeons.
So yes, he was truly a gifted defenseman. He was something to watch taking the puck from his own net
through across the blue-lines, sifting through the opposing defense and flipping it in for a goal.
He played to sell out crowds where ever he went. He was that talented.
Such grace on skates. He was the highest scoring defenseman with assists at one time. Not sure where
he stands today.
PS: Baron doesn't know what he's talking about. Orr is one of the very greats in Hockey. Maybe the
greatest defenseman ever to play.

It is just terrific being on GOAT's Ignore list.

Wasn't Sydney Crosby pretty good?

Howe definitely dominated his era and was Gretzky’s idol. Whether it’s hockey, football, or basketball, the speed and play of the game has evolved so much today compared to when you watch film from the 70’s. I think if there’s a Mt Rushmore of hockey greats, these guys are all on it.
Cancer, he may have surpassed a lot of Gretzky’s records. He missed a ton of games in his career. But Ovechkin has been great.
