I truly hope Ukraine don't retreat from this city, keep reinforcing. Since no way this war will stop
why not both sides just fight at Bakhmut, making it the only battle field, until last bullet and last blood and see who wins? This way can avoid civilian casualties of other places.
There is a way the war could stop, actually. Your hero could just call it off.
In fact, if the Russians stop the invasion, the war ends. Amazing, eh?

Russia began the war with a poor strategy to use a smaller number of troops tryng to force Zelensky
to resign. When Ukraine bravely put up a fight, Russia resorted to the current strategy, which is to grind Ukraine into the dust slowly but surely.
Ukraine's 30m people are no match for Russia's 145m people, and Ukraine's munitions are no match for Russia's overwhelming stockpile. It is time to face the fact that Ukraine will eventually lose. And, to Putin's mind, it doesn't matter how long it will take. He will just grind Ukraine into the dust.
Those people happy that we "weakened" Putin really don't know what they're talking about.
UKR wants to fight. We are not making them do it.
Putin is dragooning criminals to avoid expanding the draft. His supposed numerical superiority cannot be tapped.
Only Wagner recruited prisoners. Wagner has different philosophy, culture, tradition. Their
military strategy and tactics are very different than Russian military's. They already cancelled their prisoner recruiting program. You'd better spend less time on propaganda more times on the other side information and background. The war is fought by both sides, not one side.
Correct, we are not making them do it, but our officials have admitted to using Ukraine as a proxy
to weaken Russia. Let me be clear: even if Russia loses 500,000 troops, it will not be weaker at the end of this war when it has destroyed Ukraine and occupied the Eastern half. That will be a victory for Russia.
We were never getting into a ground war with Russia anyway, so to act like we'll benefit from Russia fighting a war of attrition is ridiculous. Meanwhile, it has shifted its economy to China and India and has plenty of market to sell into.
