Imagine being one of those hostages.
I like Reagan, generally speaking. But this is treasonous. As the article points out, we do t know if he knew.

a bad thing to do.
Brilliant!
“ None of that establishes whether Mr. Reagan knew about the trip, nor could Mr. Barnes say that Mr. Casey directed Mr. Connally to take the journey. Likewise, he does not know if the message transmitted to multiple Middle Eastern leaders got to the Iranians, much less whether it influenced their decision making.”
And…
“The House and Senate separately authorized investigations and both ultimately rejected the claims.”
Treasonous!

I’m not referring to Barnes.
Shooting the messenger doesn’t give you any cred!
As I like to say my friend, draw your own conclusions.

And since we know Reagan was in constant control of his campaign, it was treasonous.

See a pattern?

to come clean with the events that led to a presidency in an article in a reputable Heavy and you’re calling me a conspiracy guy.
Impressive!

Is it a fake conspiracy?
Sorry…nope
But, again, we all suspected this for decades.

"Mr. Barnes identified four living people he said he had confided in over the years: Mark K. Updegrove, president of the L.B.J. Foundation; Tom Johnson, a former aide to Lyndon Johnson (no relation) who later became publisher of the Los Angeles Times and president of CNN; Larry Temple, a former aide to Mr. Connally and Lyndon Johnson; and H.W. Brands, a University of Texas historian.
All four of them confirmed in recent days that Mr. Barnes shared the story with them years ago. “As far as I know, Ben never has lied to me,” Tom Johnson said, a sentiment the others echoed. Mr. Brands included three paragraphs about Mr. Barnes’s recollections in a 2015 biography of Mr. Reagan, but the account generated little public notice at the time."

still not suspicious of what went on during the run up to the 1980 election?...those hostages were released within MINUTES of him being inaugurated...seems to me the Iranians were very anxious to complete the "Quid Pro Quo"...don't you?

credence to this long-suspected "Quid Pro Quo"...btw, more than a few criminal cases have resulted in convictions based on "Circumstantial Evidence" alone...let's not close our eyes and ears to what was just revealed.

I was a lean to the Republican side of things before Reagan. When he was the nominee I had to take a long hard look
at what would or could be my perspective in politics because I knew then as I know now, Reagan held none of my ideals,
none.
Reagan was a showman for the sake of popularity and appeared to have no foundation other than to be popular, much like
W Bush. I was right on both accounts. He didn't have a clue about economics and he didn't seem all that knowledgeable
when it came to global issues. He sure as hell didn't like those who didn't have wealth and he couldn't care less about
this nation. In his time it may come across as off but saying "...Tear down that wall" doesn't make him all that smart or
savvy or the great leader. Much like Trump, he stepped in it and never seemed to be caught in anything.
Barnes will be vilified by the R's and those on this board and Carter will remain the good guy (they will say without leadership qualities
like Reagan) in their minds and statements.
Carter was good for this country especially after, Vietnam, Nixon and Ford (the pardoning of Nixon) and would have succeeded had
it not been for people like Reagan and his cohorts.
Reagan = Treason,.

from that article...
--------------------
Picking his way through the Soviet archives that Boris Yeltsin had just thrown open, in 1991 Tim Sebastian, a reporter for the London Times, came across an arresting memorandum. Composed in 1983 by Victor Chebrikov, the top man at the KGB, the memorandum was addressed to Yuri Andropov, the top man in the entire USSR. The subject: Sen. Edward Kennedy.

Can you think of any possible ways in which this story is a fabrication?
Google "Ted Kennedy Russia|."
There are a gazillion links to this story.
I actually recall it and don't recall and denials at the time.

Shameful
..fits the narrative from Mr. Brown...plus, his account is corroborated by others who recalled him telling them about it years ago.
