It's exports are overwhelmingly dependent on its relationships with countries that support Ukraine.
AND... China would love to take back far east Russia.
The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact made more sense than any XI-Putin alliance.

If he gets desperate. I suspect he would be willing to use nationalism (and "special operations") as a last ditch technique to keeps millions of unmarried (with no prospects), unemployed men busy on a project that might harm China but that might keep him in power.
If he does he could throw a huge monkey wrench into the gears of our political machinery.
credible service or expertise. There are bank records as well. This is why Joe Biden shut down the Wuhan Lab Leak Investigation......service rendered for pay.

I forget the exact figure, something like 600M people would starve within a year if Russia-like sanctions were imposed on China.
wrt Taiwan...he'd no doubt like to see Putin be able to absorb a good part of Ukraine and demonstrate the limits of Western power.

lately with his approach to COVID (welding doors shut), and his BRI project isn't winning accolades, either...could push him to do more stupid things (e.g. attack Taiwan)...heck, Vlad is sealing Russia's fate vis-a-vis the rest of the developed world...why not Xi?
So, we can't let it be killed.
For defense purposes, we need to build over here, or stabilize Mexico and build there. Mexico is becoming an important economic-defense matter for the US, with regard to China. We need new cheap manufacturing with shorter, defendable supply lines for the next 50-100 years.
just to tighten up their Fentanyl supply line, or drive a wedge between Mexico and us...more likely a wise business move to spread their influence across the Americas...in addition to the aforementioned reasons.
Your comment about 'stabilizing' Mexico resonates with me...what would that mean to you in terms of actionable policy?...military cooperation versus the drug lords (e.g. Tom Clancy's "Clear and Present Danger)?
Our anti-IED airborne surveillance tech can track the cartels, and our missiles and drones can end them within a month. Every time they commit a crime, they die. Evenutally, they will have to go underground to stay alive. Then, the Mexican military (with US units assisting until the cartel payments to the military stop), can secure the country, and keep them underground. Then US companies select a few cities to start building factories and interviewing people for jobs.
control a criminal enterprise that threatens BOTH countries...therefore, it would seem to me that some "well-bounded" measure could be established that would allow for a mutually-beneficial program that involved both of our militaries and judicial agencies.
The Drug Cartels are a Social Cancer that must be "Excised"...certainly hope this gets explored at the very least.
btw...to my way of thinking, if successful, to both parties satisfaction, then such a program could serve as a "Template" for additional assistance to other countries in Central America who welcomed it.
We've got to get the Upper Hand in this battle.
