Couldn't help but note that Victor Martinez also appeared on the ballot for the first time, and did not receive 5% of the votes, so he won't be on next year's ballot.
Who would you rather have to anchor your catcher position for the next several years.....Joe Mauer or Victor Martinez? Joe at his peak is a no-brainer, but beyond that, it is clearly Victor. But one guy is a first ballot inductee, while the other doesn't even qualify to stay on the ballot for year #2.
