I just read about the gulag Navalny spent his last days in, horrible.

Do you think we'll ever get Paul Whelan out?

Tampa, per his typical shallow perspective, posted below asking why anyone should care about Navalny's death.

Some excerpts from today's piece:

"The most fundamental test of our fortitude is simple: Will the United States continue to support Ukraine as it tries to fight off Russian invaders? I hope Navalny’s sacrifice helps us find the will to stand up to Putin.

Navalny was Russia’s foremost dissident and opposition leader but also emerged as something of a Mandela of our age. Despite being poisoned and repeatedly punished with long bouts of isolation in remote prisons, Navalny stood unbroken. He continued to mock Putin and denounce the invasion of Ukraine.

His wit and refusal to bow to authority made him a Kremlin nightmare. Sent to the gulag, he mischievously attempted to unionize prisoners and guards alike.

Tucker Carlson managed a 127-minute interview with Putin this month without even asking a single question about Navalny. It was such a softball interview that Putin professed exasperation at the deference and said he wished he’d been asked sharper questions.

Carlson even embarked on what seemed a promotional tour of Putin’s Russia, praising Moscow. “It is so much nicer than any city in my country,” he said. “It is so much cleaner and safer and prettier, aesthetically, its architecture, its food, its service, than any city in the United States.”

A Russian dissident, Vladimir Kara-Murza, wrote a few days ago in The Washington Post, “Even from a Russian prison, I can see Putin’s weakness.” And Navalny himself once said: “If they decide to kill me, it means that we are incredibly strong. We need to utilize this power.”

Those are words that Russians and Ukrainians alike should take to heart, but it’s also a message to American members of Congress and right-wing partisans who have become Moscow’s fellow travelers. May Navalny’s heroic sacrifice wake them up."

Ukraine hates him. Georgia hates him. To them the enemy of my enemy is not my friend. In Russia he was on the margin of Russia politics, not worthy to comment. I'd rather talk about Russia Communist party which has more seats, more governors and represents much more Russian citizens than talking about him.

If you really want to hear, here is a few words about him
1. He is an extreme nationalist. His hatred toward Russia Muslim and other minorities is well known. As usual, US picked up wrong guy to prepare him as future leader in color revolution in Russia.

2. His anti corruption is opportunistic. Russia's miserable and horrible 1990s made Russia a big corrupted country. Of course everybody talked about it and criticized it. I give credits to him for criticizing Russian corruption. But nothing special.

3. He is only a darling of the western. West found him and labeled him as opposition leader. But, again, he represents only a tiny group of Russians. He is not qualified as opposition leader. There are 4 parties in Russia Duma. 3 of them are opposition parties.

I consider you to have some common sense when it comes to Trump and Russia/Ukraine. Do you think that Navalny’s murder is something to celebrate? Cole seems to think so.

Celebrate his death, no. Care about his death, no. We have way too many of our own problems at home to worry about some guy in a Russian prison.

What happened to Navalny is par for the course when it comes to Putin and his fellators….Trump included.

Going after his political opponents. I see the Dems doing that by removing him from ballots but that isn’t a threat to Democracy, right?

Listen, I want someone else other than Trump. But if it’s between him or Biden, I’m voting for him.

And he went after them during his first term on a daily basis. Dude was addicted to Twitter instead of governing. Total waste of space.

As far as voting Trump. Go right ahead. It’s your right. Biden is definitely not the optimal opponent.

Him from ballots is what I’m talking about. They are doing everything they can to stop him from running. If they are doing such a great job, they will beat him at the box, right?
