So, there is no "right to abortion" in the constitution, but you could infwe there is a "right to life, liberty and such" from the declaration of independence. And this is where it gets messy. This issue will be the Israel/Palestine debate of our society until we can pass a constitutional amendment on it, which seems increasingly unlikely.
But it has nothing to do with church and state.
Also, BTW, I believe in freakonomics.
SCOTUS threw it all away...on baseless religious grounds.
It'll take time, but what might be termed the "law of large numbers" will prevail and we'll re-establish a woman's right to reproductive choice with her own body...women will no longer be "brood mares" controlled by the state.
Don't bitch when the solution in place that relies on political appointments falls apart.
