The following are obvious observations:
- At least half of all people featured as main characters must be from a recognized minority group, preferably black. (Bonus points to Old Spice for featuring only minorities).
- Interracial couples must be at least half of all couples in commercials. (Bonus points to Roman for featuring almost exclusively interracial couples.) If the couple is same-race, at least 25% of such couples' children must (edit) be from a different race.
- Gay couples can be featured, but since the homophobic demographic still unfairly wields a lot of economic clout, they can be featured only fleetingly. (Bonus points to Vrbo for featuring at least one gay couple almost every commercial,)
- A group of children playing together must have a minimum of three different races represented, none of which has to be Caucasian.
- If there is a group of four more people, at least one person must be a person of color. Large groups must feature at least one mixed-race couple.
- If there is an "expert" on the product in a mixed-race setting, the "expert" must always be a minority.
- If there is a "buffoon" in a mixed-race setting, the "buffoon" must always be a white guy.
- If there is a criminal in a commercial (alarm system, insurance, etc.), the person must always be a white guy with a 5 o'clock shadow.
- In a boardroom setting, the leader must be either a minority male or a female of any race (for now). The board itself must be mostly women and ideally mostly minority.
Anything I've missed?
The issuie is not to overdo it and trigger a Bud Lite type boycott.
I hate them and think they should not be allowed. I'm a free market devotee but I think they are dangerous. The last thing we need is to be fed this bullshit and then run to our doctors asking them to prescribe this crap. I think they are harmful. Doctors must hate them, at least the ones that aren't already on the take from pharma companies.
Do we really have to tell people not to take something if they are allergic to it? WTF?
And why any disclaimers at all if it is prescription controlled? Let the doctor tell them.
Why the fuck do you watch commercials? DVR that shit.

Tough being an old white guy these days
The ratios have nothing to do with actual demographics
Guess it’s a form of reparations?

MICHEL MARTIN, HOST:
After this year's Oscars, some are still celebrating historic victories for inclusion, as well as critiquing what and who are still missing from the silver screen. One test has become a convenient shorthand for measuring representation in movies - the Bechdel Test. The hosts of NPR's history podcast Throughline talked to the Bechdel creator about its value and its limits. Here are Rund Abdelfatah and Ramtin Arablouei.
(SOUNDBITE OF ARCHIVED RECORDING)
RUND ABDELFATAH, BYLINE: It's 1985. Cartoonist Alison Bechdel is living in New York in a shoebox-size apartment, working on her comic strip Dykes To Watch Out For.
(SOUNDBITE OF MUSIC)
ABDELFATAH: One day, she sits down and starts to draw.
ALISON BECHDEL: Two dykey-looking (ph) women, a Black woman and a white woman walking down the street together. .......

That's our tax dollars at work.

For most of the history of homo sapiens there was only one race... until we exited Africa only 70,000 years ago.
By the way, in my experience women of color are tantalized by men with colored eyes.

See my reply to Quest. By far over representing minorities, by definition racial discrimination is being practiced against white actors. Just like I asked Quest, can we agree racial discrimination of any sort is wrong?
But also, why are minorities always the experts and white people always the buffoons and criminals?
You sound like the progies whining about discrimination.

just showing normal and natural diversity is a good thing. showing one group or another as either superior or inferior, or using disproportional representation is portraying a lie.
standard media practices.
You people are so miserable
Or are you incapable of understanding basic math/statistics?

What's wrong with proportional representation? Because right now these stats mean there is racial discrimination against white actors. Can we both agree racial discrimination of any sort is wrong?
And as I asked Conor, you're okay with minorities always being the experts and white people the buffoons and criminals? What's wrong with switching that up sometime?

my wife and i noticed that white guys were being phased out or made to look like idiots.
and, yes, we're terrified that a gang of white guys will come into a store we're in to do a smash-and-grab....
...on their lunch break from their regular jobs.
It’s interesting to me that what is portrayed on TV deviates so significantly from reality.
14% of the population is black but 25% of people in commercials are black.

to their NCAA Opening Game'...Racism is very much alive in the U.S....how about you posting somewhere about how wrong that is...this would be a good time and place, Mark.

We all know racism exists. But millions of black conservatives (there are quite a few on YouTube) do not believe in the concept of institutionalized racism or white privilege. My challenge to YOU is to go watch a few of their videos, get their perspective, and then come back and weigh in.
the major difference between Black Reps and Dems is the manner in which they deal with it...from the article...
--------------------
When it comes to their views on race, Black Republicans differ from Black Democrats in one key way: They tend to support individualistic approaches to addressing racial inequality, while Black Democrats tend to support institutional approaches. For example, Black Republicans and those who lean to the GOP are more likely than Black Democrats and Democratic leaners (59% vs. 41%) to say that the bigger problem for Black people is racist acts committed by individual people, as opposed to racism in our laws. And they are less likely than Black Democrats to support complete institutional overhauls to the prison system (35% vs. 57%), policing (29% vs. 52%) and the judicial process (35% vs. 50%) to ensure fair treatment of Black people.
--------------------
10. Black Republicans are just as skeptical as Black Democrats about the prospects for equality. Black Republicans are about as likely as Black Democrats (39% vs. 45%) to say equality for Black people in the U.S. is a little or not all likely. In fact, only about 15% of Black adults in either partisan coalition say equality for Black people is extremely or very likely.
----------------------
Don't try to whitewash the problem, Mark...and your post about too many people of color in TV ads is not helping.

Advertising is a bastion of woke groupthink and brainwashing. The cowardly ad agencies go along with the scam. Anything to make a buck.
Oh, and be sure to get a security system for your house, those damn white thugs and robbers are a menace to our society, especially the ones with the 5 O'clock shadows.
