A great example of the susceptibility of our society to propaganda. I remember being baffled when plastic became preferable to paper under the guise that old growth forests were being cut down to make paper bags. Paper is made from fast growing trees and is easily renewable and biodegradable.

Metal cans, cardboard, and paper are were the markets are.
...bookmark the attached article on which types of plastic can or should be recycled...here's a quick summary...
----------------
Bottom-line, there are seven types of plastics. Generally, most recyclers accept plastics #1 and #2. Plastics #3 to #6 are more difficult to recycle, and some recycling centers do not process them. Plastic #7 is even more challenging to recycle and is almost always excluded.

plastics manufacturers that enable consumers to know which products can/should be recycled and which ones not...also would like to see progress made on enabling more types of plastic to be recyclable...some progress is better than none, IMO.
btw, I took an elective class in plastics during my engineering days.
