Neither Zelensky nor Biden wanted to negotiate with Putin when things were looking good for them. They wanted him pushed out. But that isn't really going to happen, even if it appears promising.
What makes you think that the same people involved will make a different decision next time if we are lucky enough to have this huge amount of money create this opportunity (which is no guarantee and in fact unlikely)?
