Trump’s base will follow him to hell ‘n back. The flipside is that the same % of voters seek a one way ticket for Trump to Hell.
I cannot think of any candidate for President in US history who draws such a stark contrast of die hard supporters vs die hard despisers.
Trump can never effectively govern because almost half the nation is embarrassed and ashamed that Donald Trump could be the President of the United States. Yet, our democracy determines who serves in the Oval Office.
This will be an extremely close electoral count election, as was 2020. Biden will win the popular vote. But, that’s not necessarily enough to win the Electoral College.
I have posted before that I still do not see Biden picking up enough Nikki Haley Republicans and independents to cover what he is losing in 3rd party voters and young voters who do not turn out or vote for Trump. The big Latino shift towards Republicans is also a huge metric.
So, it it’s close, I believe Trump will be elected.
Biden’s problem is that he does not generate energy.
But, we are in May. 6 months is a ton of runway in politics.

That being said...and much more unsaid, no Dem I know will fail to submit a ballot for JB in this election and risk a true disaster.

We should be able to kill our babies!!!
Go Irish!!
...a great deal of theology, biology and real world experience is behind that statement...you are avoiding all of it. Also, what isn't debated is the fact that a pregnant woman is indeed a person...with responsibilities...and rights...no one is entitled to ignore her rights...especially, her Reproductive Rights.
Consider that statement in light of my previous post.
You know this and seek to further a falsehood…apparently to make yourself feel better.
Where your ultra-progressive beliefs diverge from the church…be honest and own it.
Try some “critical thinking”…
And stop beating your trope or you’ll go blind.
regarding fetal personhood?...any guesses?...or do I need to start a tread dedicated to this very important question?
have said Personhood begins at conception...he didn't...WHY not?
There's much more to say about this...it's critical that everyone ask themselves this question, since it goes to the heart of the matter...and resolution.
btw, I've got limited time this morning but will definitely get back later...and start another thread on it if necessary...your turn.
Asked and answered.
That is debated means others debate it...when understood in the context of Francis calling an abortion doctor a “hitman”
You know what you’re doing. Stop trying to justify.
Own YOUR position. The Catholic Church is not bending to it…no matter how poorly Francis May phrase things.
with the issue of abortion now facing women in America...and around the globe. Once again...Francis could have taken the position that Personhood Begins at Conception...he didn't...why not?...just repeating his words and implying they had no meaning for him is disingenuous...face up to them and answer the question.
It has zero to do with abortion, and you know it. Quit lying.
The Church is never going to do what sick people like you wish for.
This matters immensely...and you know it.
btw, the "end game" in all this is to arrive at a place where through 'Prudential Judgement' we can all come together on a solution that REDUCES the number of Unwanted Pregnancies and the abortions that follow. This is by no means a marketing campaign to see how many more abortions we can have each year...just stop with that brain dead argument.
Yawn...
Again, own YOUR position as your own...
Link: Pope Francis and the personhood debate
acknowledge Francis' words but fail to dig into what they mean, as the closing paragraph illustrates...
------------------
"What does all of this mean? Well, for one thing, it is clear that the Magisterium has acknowledged on multiple occasions that there is a debate about personhood. It is also clear that the Church has not always considered the life of a human person to begin at conception, nor has the Church definitively taught this. That said, the Church has always regarded abortion to be evil from the moment of conception. More recently, the Church has pushed back against the idea that “delayed personhood” is relevant to its position on the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception. It has taught instead that life, from the moment of conception should be treated and respected as a human person. And in this, Pope Francis has always been in line with Catholic Tradition."
-----------------
IMO an apt analogy to the abortion issue is the RCC's view on "Just Wars"...it's in the Church's Catechism and in truth, under very certain circumstances, it accepts the unavoidable killing of many, many people...born or unborn...not all of them combatants. If you read that section (2308-2309), you'll see what conditions are required...and the words "Prudential Judgement"...i.e. the 'Critical Thinking' process that must be employed in order to justify such action. In my discernment, that is what Francis is leading everyone to when it comes to abortion.
What links the two issues in my mind are the people being attacked...and losing their freedom to live their lives as they want...hopefully well, and faithfully. In the abortion case, there is no doubt that there are circumstances where a woman is either forced or seriously coerced into a totally unwanted pregnancy..i.e. she is attacked against her will. Such circumstances are analogous to a nation of innocent persons being attacked and losing their freedoms...Justice should allow them to retrieve their freedom, if they so choose.
My reading of Francis' words...and the absence of Church teaching on Personhood at conception...is that the door must stay open for "Prudential Judgement" in each case where the use of abortion might arise...furthermore, in keeping with the context of the America Magazine interview with him, he's calling on Bishops and Priests to help guide women in that discernment, with the hope that carrying the pregnancy to term will be chosen...but ultimately, it is the woman's decision...not government which cannot possibly understand her suffering and loss.
Your thoughts...
would arrive at a logical conclusion as to the words the Pope used in response to an interview question...as opposed to the slop you're dumping here.
Of course, you're attempting to look for a tortured interpretation in an attempt to pretend the Pope (of all people) is bending the church towards the views of the ideology at whose altar you actually worship.
Again, and for the last time, YOU want abortion?...Have at it. Make your case. You're certainly within your rights to do so.
Just stop deliberately misrepresenting the position of the Pope.
I say this, of course, knowing you won't, as your mission here is to constantly promote the propaganda provided to you.
innocent in their totally unwanted pregnancies which were caused by force or coercion...i.e. special circumstances, not unlike the "Just Wars" analogy. If you've seen other posts of mine on abortion you'd know of the 'abortion reduction' actions I share with many others...Contraceptives...Education...Support Programs.
That being said, you haven't replied regarding the summary I copied from Mr. Lewis' opinion, which in essence buttresses what Pope Francis said about fetal personhood...nor the analogy of the RCC's "Just Wars" Doctrine, which justifies the collateral killing of innocent civilians.
Let's utilize these very real documented opinions and not ignore them while flying off into groundless accusations...we're adults, let's discuss/debate this very important issue reasonably.
I've got another scholarly paper that I know you'd respect on this matter, if you're willing to join me in the attempt to come to an understanding...and be assured that I will read whatever you present, just as I've done with Mr. Lewis' paper.
Finally, for this post, keep in mind that abortion bans won't stop women from seeking them...they will once again force innocent women to seek them in "Back Alleys", just like before Roe v Wade...while having government/police forces terrorizing them for conditions they never wanted.
