my wife's career in Psychiatric Social Work and Family Counseling often involved 'Bullying'...it's a problem that starts early in life for the bully...and given the national environment we find ourselves in...we need to do our best to see that our leaders are people who truly 'Care for Others' and don't exhibit "Bullying" behavior. Amazingly, and unfortunately, we have a candidate for President who is the epitome of an Uncaring, Self-Centered Bully...Donald Trump.
We've all seen him shove foreign dignitaries out of the way to get to the front of a group photo...mock people with disabilities and call rivals or anyone he disagrees with, degrading names...unceasingly....cheat contractors out of their agreed upon fees...etc., etc.
When asking my wife how to combat this problem, she notes a few things...a) typically, one of the parents is a bully and encourages such behavior...b) just talking about it with the parent and child is not very effective...and c) the bully must experience Consequences for his/her actions...which brings us to Trump's trials...unless he is firmly held accountable, he will continue his bullying behavior.
See the attached link for more on how DJT came to be the Bully he is.

It happens in private and public schools and in playgrounds, boys and girls almost everywhere. It happens with adults. Yes, the school can protect the young person during school hours and even make the parents aware that their kid is bullying someone weaker, but that is only a temporary fix IMHO. The school and parents can't be everywhere. So, I believe education on bullying, starting at the lowest grades through 12th grade, might be one answer. And I don't mean one school assembly every year. I'm talking serious education. We need a full assault on undoing what social media has done. This notion of being "disrespected". I would like to know where the hell was the bus driver and aide when the young man was bullied. No cameras on board? The only thing I can tell the parents of Sammy is that he is protected and happy beyond belief in his new heavenly home. Maybe that may be a comfort, maybe not.
