on June 1st. I had the great fortune of meeting K9 as he came to the lake condo just last year. Fantastic individual and just a great person. For those that knew K9 he would always some scheme or plan that usually would end up in some terrible comedic situation.
For example on the morning of the trip I am verifying with others that they are coming and I can coordinate when to leave work and meet them at the condo. K9 says that there is an issue at the rental car place. Mind you this is like a 5.5 hour drive from timbuktu Georgia to timbuktu TN. I lose it thinking what do you mean rental car place? He says that he wanted to rent a Tesla because gas was just so high. Now mind you, I immediately think in my head that the rental premium for a Tesla for a long weekend surely is far more than a couple of tanks of gas but I make fun of him and others chided him to make sure that he doesn't bail at the last moment. He ends up showing up in a bright red and white Dodge Challenger (you know the very economical non gas guzzling muscle car).
I just recently have found out that he called another long time old school poster on here that he asked them how does a Tesla even work for this trip. You can't make this up. The highlight of the weekend was listening to live music as I was grinded on and sexually assaulted by Tyler Perry's aunt. All to the tremendous delight of K9. This is remarkably true....
I felt compelled to go to the funeral and I just want to tell everyone on here that the registry reads, "Trevor and Mary Ann Hurst representing all of your ND buddies. We love you K9!"
A link to the funeral home. K9 had all of his retirement money tied up in ND gear. Great American and he served his country in in both the Army and Navy and well as law enforcement. For all of the old heads out here there was no mention of snow cone concession duty at Disney world or B&B owner in Maine....
Life is short gents. Take care.
PS Knute - yes the boat radio was working....that weekend....

Didn’t realize he lived one town over from me. He was buried in the VA Cemetery where my in-laws will be interred.
Great post, thank you. There are real people behind these handles and this is a great reminder.
59 is too damn young. K9 always seemed like a great dude.
Best to his family.
Unfortunately never got to meet K9 in person. We had arranged once to meet when he was traveling by NYC but his itinerary changed and we had to call it off.
Great guy. Appreciated his service to our country and in law enforcement. He shared a lot here and was honest and self-deprecating. Qualities that are sadly in very short supply around here these days. He will be missed.
Glad you got to spend that time together and that the boat radio worked...for a change.
Great to hear from you. Be well.
RIP K9
fashion for 25 years. I think I first got on UHND around 98 or 99.

Stopped merely lurking because I couldn't take Willingham anymore,,,and 20 years later....
I'm sure he's enjoying the rainbow bridge on the other side.

twice. Once up in Maine when he was still B&Bing. The stories were hilarious. Second time in Sarasota when I was there for a soccer tourney. Gup was with us. It was hysterical. Life is indeed too short and he left way too soon. RIP, my friend.
I'm sure you all enjoyed the microwaved ribs.
RIP K9.
