Having said that I do agree that Israel needs to eliminate as much of Hamas as possible, especially the leadership. Sinwar was betting that the US and rest of the West would not allow the destruction of Hamas due to the carnage and civilian deaths it would cause. He bet wrong and they will get him.

He was asleep at the switch as to the real threat due to his obsession to avoid a 2 state solution. His actions and inactions before the attack are close to criminal in negligence.
