History lesson grass hoppers; I watched the very first debate (Kennedy vs Nixon)… live! Those who also watched on tv felt Kennedy won while those who only listened on radio believe Nixon did. The difference? Nixon’s makeup smeared when he began sweating under the tv lights.
My point; it may not matter what the candidates actually say. It may come down to whose makeup works best… or… who simply “looks” more with it. In other words, it could be Biden’s “frozen moments” vs Trump’s “derangement episodes.”
voters to assess. JFK's performance in making statements of policy and answering questions was superior to Nixon's. To suggest that 'Tricky Dick's' sweating in the first debate was "Everything" that mattered to viewers is a bit of a stretch...
btw, be sure to watch the entirety of that first debate in the linked Wiki review.

And Wikipedia is notoriously biased,
Nixon's clock with content and delivery...plus he had to overcome a lot of 'Anti-Catholic' bias at that time...you remember that, don't you?
btw, I was "there" too ;-).
of time.
Yeah, that’s real. Remember CNN and Donna Brazile.
Wouldn't that be ironic?
