Let’s think about that for a minute
The hateful rhetoric spewed by the right led to the former speaker’s 80 year old husband almost being killed. It was a reprehensible crime! How did the GOP react? Certainly not all and not even the majority, but some Republicans found it to be funny. This included the former president and his son.
Further, although both Harris and Walz came out immediately and said they were happy the former president was ok and “this is not who we are” as a country, they are totally wrong. It is exactly who we are as a country. We have more gun ownership in this country by far than any country. We have the highest homicide rate of all wealthy G7 countries by far.
The GOP, including Florida state legislature and governor, signed a law allowing Floridians to carry weapons including semi automatic rifles. Not who we are? Are you fxxxing kidding me. This is exactly who we are. If GOP laws continue to allow semi automatic weapons to be purchased, it will continue. So this phony act of outrage and shock is ludicrous. Wake up fools!

There are probably also some relevant Federal crime statues.
