Thousands of pagers used by Hezbollah members in Lebanon simultaneously explode.
Damn.
EDIT: Read a little more about this. After Hezbollah's chief of staff was assassinated in Beirut, Hezbollah decided they needed to switch from smartphones to pagers, thinking they would be more difficult to track. Problem is, they bought their pagers from the Mossad. Wow.
You can try to overheat a lithium battery but there is internal software, vents, and the fact that there is variably in reactions. They can smoke, spark or explode. I’m guessing Mossad lifted an inventory from somewhere on the supply chain and modified the pagers to explode.

Must have looked a bit like this all over Lebanon:

...apparently, Testing and 'Quality Control' is not part of their purchasing procedures..."Caveat Emptor"
I don't know about the timing, though...that's the kind of thing you can only use once. They might have wanted to save it for later. I dunno.
And for us, nothing would be worse than an expansion of that horrible conflict.
