Rush Limbaugh. That was correct. Limbaugh was out of line referring to the woman as a slut regardless of what he was trying to point out.
But how about Bill Maher? Where is the outrage over his comments? Calling Sarah Palin a MILF, a twat and a cunt? Suggesting that her down syndrome baby was the result of having sex with John Edwards. That guy is sick attacking a special needs child. What Rush said was trivial compared to Maher's comments. Then he donates a million to Obama's super PAC and Axelrod appears on his show praising him. Soetoro's right hand man. Very impressive and very telling regarding him and his boss.
What about Olbermann and his comments regarding Michelle Malkin and S.E. Cupp ? Where is the outrage? At least he apologized.
So, it was wrong for Rush to make a comment like he did and I agree. Why is it OK for these left wing radicals to attack women just because they are conservatives and be treated like heroes?
Where is the so called liberal concern for the treatment of women?
...in the MSM. Period. End of story.
a book to read. Have to go run errands now, I will read all this good stuff later.
I still say that the bottom line is: both guys were wrong, they were both way out of line. One guy gets blasted by Obama and team, the other guy gets praised. IMHO, The response to both of them should be the same.
And also a MILF. Just being factual.

Limbaugh is an idiot and I don't know why people listen to him, but there is definitely selective (and fake) outrage here. Of course, both sides engage in it, but it seems to be a lot worse when a conservative says something bad about a liberal figure.
I was not outraged by what Rush said. I was not outraged by what Maher said. Or by what Imus said, either. I reserve my outrage for worthy targets.
I'm just trying to explain to you blockheads why OTHERS were outraged - it was because (1) that girl is not a public figure, and (2) Rush is not a comedian, like Maher. Comedians get a wide latitude.
Nappy headed ho's was funny. Completely crazy and insensitive, but that's who Imus had been for so long and all of the sudden everyone is like, where did that come from? - he needs to repent. Outfuckingrageous.
Maher, takes it too far with Palin if he does call her Kunt and a twat, but MILF? I'm all for MILF.
I'm sure Palin wears MILF like a trophy as does her hubby. Nothin' wrong with being hot enough to have men drool at her age.
Limbaugh, unnecessary and beyond the pale. Not clever, not funny, just stupid.
However, the advertisers leaving him, and the ground swell of rhetoric for and against is completely nuts. Limbaugh's a jerk and he's been that way forever and he'll continue to be that same guy into the future, so what's the surprise here?
His remarks were inappropriate and now he wants to deflect the spotlight away from himself and cry the "why me" routine.
Yeah, Maher's comments are insensitive, granted, but Limbaughs are inexcusable.
If such a line exists - he crossed it.
Bashing Palin on her views is easy enough. Stooping to calling her obscenities is immature and in equally bad taste as anything Limbaugh has said.
(no message)
Or at least an acknowledgement that their outrage is about Limbaugh being an effective conservative voice and not about him saying rude things about a law student.
I'm not a conservative and I don't buy into the whoa-is-me-the-liberal-media-is-out-to-get-us line that Rs use all the time. But, tell me why all of these righteous indignant crusaders leading the boycott of Limbaugh's advertisers were totally silent when a liberal critic said equally vulgar and unacceptable things about a conservative woman? It's selective, phony outrage.
If he did, they would have been targeted. You can bank on it.
It's hypocrisy and you know it.
Furthermore, HBO is paid for by subscribers, Rush is paid for by advertising.
HBO is private, Rush is public. They are completely different entities.
...because you can cancel your subscription, no? "Completely different entities"? I'll bet you didn't do too well on the SATs and the analogy questions. Geesh.
People don't expect it on public airwaves at mid-day. Neither do the sponsors that support his show.
See my post below responding to cheeks. Society accepts offensive language on certain formats, not others. There's no way Maher could have gotten away with what he said in the middle of the day on AM radio.
Anybody can drop HBO at anytime they want. HBO obviously isn't very scared or they would have dropped him.
With Limbaugh, thousands of American companies pitch their products DURING his show. Now those companies are getting heat to stop supporting his show. This isn't surprising. Maher has no corporations supporting his show, so he doesn't have to worry about them witholding their support.
Also, I believe liberal radio host Ed Shultz got suspended from his show (and from MSNBC) when he said offensive things about Laura Ingram. I guess you forgot that?
If I'm partisan anything, I'm a partisan democrat.
You're splitting hairs with Maher. It's okay for him to slander because he's on at night and you can curse on HBO? That's weak.
That Schultz got suspended for calling Ingrahm a slut proves nothing. The liberal groups that are going after Limbaugh right now had nothing to do with that and couldn't care less about what Schultz said.
And by the way, I think that both Rs and Ds engage in the selective outrage, for sure. I'm just getting a kick out of the high and mighty Ds that are doing it right now. It's amusing.
What other thin rationalizations do you have for what is clear hypocrisy?
I'm just arguing what makes this situation different, and that is the fact the Limbaugh has corporate sponosrship and Maher doesn't. That Libaugh is on public airwaves and Maher isn't. That Limbaugh is on mid-day and Maher isn't. Of course those engaged are hypocrites, that goes without saying.
My point is the hypocrites on the other side would certainly have gone after Maher the same way if he had Limbaugh's vulnerabilities (i.e., dependent on corporate sponsorship and radio affiliates).
Sorry if I was off on the partisan part.
The whole thing is hilarious to me given all of the serious shit that is facing the nation right now. I will give Barry and his handlers political credit though for turning this issue against the right. That was deftly done with help from el Rushbo.
The rest I'll stand by.

It's a free country. People can say what they want. If you want to be really offensive the best place to do that without significant ramifications is HBO (or other pay TV) or satellite radio. This is a known fact that has nothing to do with politics (why do you think Howard Stern went down this path?). That way advertisers don't appear to be sponsoring your offensive comments. I can't believe how many people cannot grasp this concept.
Sorry you missed it.
Sorry, I'm a little fired up today.

I couldn't figure out where all this began.
Rush told you to be outraged at Bill Maher.
Maher's Best line about Palin still stands ------ "[She's] a category 5 Moron". The most accurate line ever.

If they are dumb enough to think that contraception leads to more abortions, and that the earth was created in 3 days 5,000 years ago, they are also dumb enough to not understand that the reason Maher, Howard Stern, et al, can get away with saying things that Limbaugh can't is b/c they don't have sponsorship. That level of understanding requires at least a middle school level of education.
What does that say about her "education level"?

If you don't like my point, the best approach seems to be to attack the left with a different argument.

Commies like the Republicans.
But then again, we're not an angry bunch nor are we so gullible as to not know, Republicans are a mob of Lying, Cheating Money Grubbing Commies who'd sell their own to put up a shopping mall in Yosemite's National forest.

If you are expecting that Obama is not a hypocrite, then you haven't been watching the last several years. His schtick is attack, but when he doesn't want to be attacked starts beating the bi-partisan drum.
The guy is an able politician, but also exactly what is wrong with our political system today. No experience but gives a good speech, misrepresents what he stands for to get elected, highly bi-partisan, etc.

Sounds like it's right there in your post.
Are you asking why the same people aren't outraged by both? It's because the ones outraged by Rush share those people's political view. Just as many people who share Rush's political view aren't outraged by his comments.
Those of us who cannot associate with any of these people's views would be outraged by all of it, except we are way too tired. The loud fools have won. They've won the TV, the radio, the newspapers, and especially the internet (e.g. the Open Forum). They will now and forever hold the conch in this country. Have fun yelling at each other.
If Rush wanted to move to satellite radio or HBO after 9PM only, I don't think anyone would argue his show needs to be cancelled. There would be no advertisers to leave. However, Rush is on free gov't-sponsored airwaves, and is dependent upon advertising from US corporations. Different story.
That's why no one is called on Maher's advertisers to leave after he said those thins about Palin. He doesn't have any advertisers. This never ocurred to you?
he needs to dump Maher and his $$.
(no message)
apologize for something he has no business apologizing for.
because she was thrust into the spotlight and this was the outcome?
If he is going to come out against what Rush said, he shouldn't be taking $1MM from a guy that refers to prominent women as twats and cunts.
It's too bad DoFro isn't in on this argument. Imagine the fun he would have typing "cunt" with impunity this often.

We all know Obama is a two-faced sellout. This is news?
None of it excuses Rush.
I think it should be pretty obvious to anyone on here that I'm not a Rush Limbaugh Republican.
and for the most part he's not a dummy. He stirred the shit pretty well for the Right. He's gotten to be a parody of himself though over the years, so if he leaves the scene over this, no biggie for me. I also have laughed at Maher and could care less if he called Palin what he called her. Other than the term being offensive, it's twooo, it's twooo.
The funniest part is Barry's fake outrage over women being called names by Rush. Gimeeee a fuckin break.
Rush and Francesca were both ground-breaking and entertaining and now just seem like angry, unfunny old men.

all while boo hooing on the phone with the poor downtrodden Sandra about her being called bad names cause she's a women. I really could give a rat's ass about either Limbaugh or Maher or what they say.
I'm not voting for Obama this time. I've posted this numerous times. I'm just calling a spade a spade.
This has nothing to do with Obama. This has to do with the fact Limbaugh has advertisers and Maher doesn't. If Maher had them, you know damn well people on the right would have called for them to drop him after his Palin comments.
(no message)
Rush is on public airwaves, with corporate sponsors, in the middle of the day, and is regulated by the FCC with regards to obscenity.
Maher's show regularly comes on right before Real Sex.
The idea that their mediums are comparable is ridiculous. If Rush was on HBO after 9PM he could call Pelosi every name in the book and nobody would care.
Rush has also tried to deflect criticism to gangster rappers. However, you have to be at least 18 to buy their albums and they are packaged as containing explicit lyrics.
Next Rush will wonder why Ron Jeremy can get away with shooting a load on a woman's face, and he can't call a college girl a slut.
...and you will say "Yeah, double standard!"
I just think it is laughable that Barry is wading in and calling this chick with his condolences while taking a mill from Bill. Only in Obamarama land.
Obama is a sellout, and is playing this for political purposes only (as usual). That's why I took offense when you called him my lord and master. Sorry, I'm a little punchy today.
Get Obama's cock out of your mouth and try again.
Please tell me what advertisers could be pulled from Bill Maher's show. Oh that's right there are none. If there were, I promise people would have been calling for them to drop him. Only you would not understand this point.
It is about the fake outrage on the left when their people do the same thing. You suck it up hook line and sinker.
Liberals are targeting Rush's advertisers in an attempt to get him off the air. 40+ have already dropped him.
It is about the fake outrage from the left. Again you are clueless.
...and I'm pretty sure there was real outrage on the right after Maher's comments.
The reason this has become such a big story is now Limbaugh is struggling for survival due to calculated targeting of his advertisers and affiliates. Maher doesn't have advetisers or broadcasting affiliates. But you are an idiot. Expecting you to comprehend anything beyond your initial knee-jerk reaction is more than we expect from as someone who has never posted anything longer than one sentence in 5 years.
There was no outrage from the people who are speaking out against Rush. That is the issue.
Let's have a link on how Rush is "struggling for survival".
The list of sponsors that have dropped out is up to 49. Guess what, without sponsors Rush is done (unless he moves to a different format such as satellite radio).
Link: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/rush-limbaugh-sponsor-loss-increases-sandra-fluke-297698
Keep trying, you'll get it.
"some companies buy ad spots on local stations and they end up running on a variety of shows. If they run ads on a different show than Limbaugh’s but on the same channel, no revenue is lost at the station, and Limbaugh and his partners Clear Channel Communications and Premiere Radio Networks weren’t sharing in that revenue to begin with.
In another example, a spokesman said “Netflix doesn’t purchase advertising on the Rush Limbaugh Show,” but activists are counting Netflix as one of the 43 companies that have abandoned Limbaugh. Sears also announced it was not an advertiser, but it’s also counted as among the 43."
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/rush-limbaugh-slams-abc-news-sandra-fluke-advertisers-loss-297436
I'm just explaining how it is different than with Maher. Maher has even conceded that the only way he gets away with what he says is b/c he has no sponsorship.
You are changing the argument.
I'm not changing anything.
"The reason this has become such a big story is now Limbaugh is struggling for survival due to calculated targeting of his advertisers and affiliates."
Where exactly in that sentence did I say that Rush wouldn't survive? He is struggling. That is accurate.
But he probably will make it through, but as I said the reason this has become a bigger story than it was with Maher is b/c his advertisers and affiliates are being targeted as well.
You whole argument is BS.
...and I'm done trying to explain it, as you obviously will never get it.
As usual.
Mostly they are advertisers on local stations who carry the show. He has 18,000, the loss of 49 don't mean shit. I see Obama weighed in. What did he have to say about Maher? I'm sure not much after he took the money from him.
Bill Maher is an angry, bitter man. He has made millions pushing his brand of hatred and nastiness. He is an idiot.
The woman Rush attacked was not. It would be time to lawyer up if I were her. Hard to prove absence of malice on Rush's part, she wasn't a public figure (certainly not one worthy of such an attack), and he defamed and slandered her character.
This broad ought to take Rush to the bank. Time to cash in on a winning lottery ticket. Amiright iasscheeks?
interesting. She openly admits she chose Georgetown's Law School so that she could challenge this issue, and she wrote a paper on how cross gender surgery should be mandated coverage on all insurance policies. She is a political operative from the get go. She testified by choice to congress falsely (that contraception costs $3,000 a year when you can find generic pills for about $10 dollars a month (2 cups of coffee at Starbucks a month) and condoms are free. She is no different than any other public figure.
You are also actually arguing that it is ok to call someone a C*#T and a T#*T if they are a public figure which is also ludicrous.

good one.
Other than that, why do you give drug addicts so much credit?

I don't have TV. That said, when someone sends me a Maher clip or I see one in the news, I generally enjoy listening.
He's much more in the center than any in your little R cabal here on the Open. Remember, he's a Ron Paul guy for the most part, and if it weren't for Paul's insane comments on Gov't, I'm sure I'd be in Paul's camp too.
And no, Maher is nothing close to being a misoginist.
(no message)
This is not secret stuff. It is out there on the net.
Where did I give any drug addict any credit?
Between you and me in private, I would say she is a MILF. In fact, I have said that to a few of my friends who agreed. However, I would not make that comment on national TV. That is way out of line.
If, of course, you actually are.
I would proclaim on network tv that Sarah Palin is certainly a MILF (GILF?). The only thing to be cautious of is Doinker's golden rule: "Never stick your dick in crazy". Still, might be worth it.
Who is her mortician by the way? It looks like she goes to the same one that works on Bill Maher.
figure out an answer for them to give on the topic of their hypocrisy.
forcibly raped and abused by Comrade Clinton that NOW had the same "no comment."
