Nilsson wrote this sad song too. One wasn’t a hit until 3 Dog Night covered it.

But then covered this song from another band Nilsson made a huge hit.
Ah the music business is an odd world sometimes.
What one talent writes a tune but doesn’t see it’s full potential then another talent comes along and tweaks it or modifies, rearranges it to become a hit like this Badfinger song.

This oddity occurred with this song performed by Argent. It did not chart
but a year or so later your band Three Dog Night covered it and it was a top ten hit. The oddity is, the original is more interesting and 3DNight really didn’t modify or rearrange much of the song if any modification actually took place. The real difference was the lead vocals from Russ Ballard (who wrote the song with Argent) to Danny Hutton of 3DNight.

Here is another rock’n’roll oddity - both Keith Moon and Mama Cass
died in Harry Nilsson’s London Apartment. On different dates of course. The oddity stretches to - both Mama Cass Elliot and Keith Moon died at the age of 32.
I make no inferences with these rock oddities.
