Nike stock has been tanking, so they fired their CEO and replaced him.
They lucked out by getting a unicorn in Caitlin Clark, but they have botched it badly. The reason is because of their wokeness. Instead of using Caitlin's Midas touch, they have put her on the back of the bus, and decided to promote the fugly WNBA league MVP, A'ja Wilson. She's the one getting on the Nike TV commercials and her new shoe, the 'A'One', will appear next year.
On the other hand, Caitlin has not appeared in any Nike commercials and her shoe will not be ready until 2026 or 2027. Nike has chosen PC wokeness over common business sense.
For example, Wilson recently marketed a Caitlin Clark endorsed basketball. They sold out in 40 minutes and were selling almost instantly on Ebay for as much as $200.
Catlin is wearing Kobe Bryant shoes instead of her own brand, like LeBron did in his rookie year. Little girls all over the country would run to buy Caitlin's shoe, if it were available.
Nike's woke racism is not only stupid but it's costly.

Other business factors outside your rage perimeter may have more to do with Wilson’s promotion. Nike has been successful for a long time. It’s likely Clark’s deal with them is humming along just fine.

You and I who aren’t sports marketing experts, can see Caitlin Clark is a generational marketing property. Nike can see that as well.
And maybe they are trying to “legitimize” the women’s game, which let’s face it is about as physically impressive as a boys freshman bball game.
