seem to have things under control.

The SC decision nixed that. Amazingly, the idiots here want to pass local legislation that would re-ban handguns. The Village is assloads in debt, yet they want to pass an ordinance that would result in immediate and costly litigation. The Village board also fails to acknowledge that 100% of the violent crime comes from West Chicago, from thugs who manage to get their hands on guns.
purchase guns. IMO, we need to close some loopholes, such as 1. Eliminate gun sales on the Internet, especially guns sales from other countries; 2. Require background checks of gun purchases at flea markets; and 3. Require every state to enforce background checks, no exceptions. There's probably more loopholes than that but it would be a start. Flame away.
Guns purchased on the internet have to be done through a local licensed dealer, such as your local gun shop. They usually charge a fee for handling charges. You still have to go through the background checks. The gun shows that I have been to, you have to go through the background checks. If that is not the law everywhere I would agree that it should be. The background check law is federal. You cannot avoid it by crossing a state line.
The biggest loophole is selling between private parties when neither has a FFL. No documentaion is required. I have never sold to anyone that I did not know and I always got a signed bill of sale in case that weapon some day showed up in the wrong place.
I also believe that the conceal carry laws in all of the states that allow them should require completion of a training course that includes:
Safety, range qualification, legal issues, and liabilities.
As a gun owner and a concealed carry permit holder, I find it ridiculus that some states allow conceal carry without proper training.
issued to felons and about 700 issued to individuals that were convicted of domestic violence. This is against the state law but they still got the guns. AZ for example has almost no restrictions as do many other states.
Regarding the Internet. I'm talking about illegal sales over the Internet from foreign countries that don't abide by our laws.
Also, many of the guns used to commit crimes have been traced back to private sales at flea markets. I'm saying that loophole needs to be closed. Gun shows are generally monitored and have legit sellers, but flea markets aren't monitored.
...It is THE toughest gun law in the U.S.
Wanna' guess where NY's gun crimes rank?
Link: When Blue-bloods get shot, laws are enacted.
or city like Chicago cannot pass a law banning firearms because American (and the crooks) have become more mobile and can cross city and state lines to purchase firearms. If you ban guns in NY, they go to NJ. If you ban them in TN, they go to GA. No local law will ever succeed. Only a national law and Congress simply doesn't have the brass balls to pass that type of legislation given the NRA influence.
Background checks?
Where do think most criminals get their guns from?
(Excluding the Mexican drug gangs who bought them from Eric Holder)
Link: Mexico, BTW, has some of the strictest gun laws in the world.
Even if you banned the manufacture and possession of firearms worldwide, the criminals would steal them from the police or military or manufacture their own.
not beng allowed to carry them menans that the bad guys rule the streets. They don't care what the law says. If disarming the honest citizens were the answer, these 16 people would not have been shot.
Than what's presently in place.
The fly in their ointment is that law abiding citizens are compelled by law to register their firearms and the serial numbers of said weapons, are recorded in a database.
Should i commit a crime with my 30 long arms or 57 short arms, they can track me down to my door.
Tony Bagadonuts, OTH, has never registered his weapons and for that, I am to be punished?
We live in a Federally controlled society that has lost its compass on the highway of sanity.

that is the result, but why do you think liberals want that to the case? Catering to their constituents? Make it easier to take out the good guys? That is what is going down in Chicago, the good guys are not allowed to defend themselves.
