"Days after news broke of the earthquake in Iran's Semnan province, speculation has continued on social media that the tremors were caused by Tehran's first nuclear test. ... "
The article admits it is speculation, and the experts have not yet weighed in.
CIA Director Wm. Burns says, "We do not see evidence today that the supreme leader has reversed the decision that he took at the end of 2003 to suspend the weaponization program." So, no worries, I guess? But, now we know that we have to parse these statements very closely. Did he say they weren't developing a nuke? Or, did he just comment on a 2003 statement by Iran's leader (that many people think Iran has been violating for years). Rest easy: Iran's behavior apparently has "all the hallmarks" of not seeking a nuclear weapon.
But, wow, what would an Iran nuclear test do to the Middle East? Yikes.
