As a tribute to the many tradesmen and women working around the clock in North Carolina...and soon Florida....Mr Glen Campbell!
You don't have to like much of his music to still appreciate this. Like most of the great guitarists in popular music, he started out as a studio musician. Studio musicians are the best because they're expected to be perfect every time. Campbell was one of the few, elite musicians to make the transition from the studio to the front of the stage. He could play anything and everything. Great guitar playing is not playing really loud or playing really fast. It's about how intricately you can play notes. Sometimes that requires fast playing, but fast playing does not define greatness.

I once saw a clip of a short interview of Alice Cooper. Alice and Glen were friends and close golfing buddies. Eddie Van Halen reached out to Alice because Eddie wanted to learn to play golf, so Alice invited him to AZ and they played. Alice shares that EVH asked him if he could arrange for him to have a guitar lesson from Glen.
Just stop and think about that. EDDIE VAN HALEN wanted a guitar lesson from Glen Campbell.

Alice had a good friendship with Campbell. He was there when dementia started to become very noticeable. As research has shown, there is something special about music with Alzheimer's patients. Even as Campbell was well into the disease, he could still play remarkably well.
The late great Carl Wilson once said that Glen had to leave the Beach Boys so he could go on to be Glen Campbell. What a statement from a R&R HOFer himself. I searched and searched and just recently found a vinyl LP of Glen's greatest hits in stellar condition.
