It has to be ignored, beaten down, crushed angrily. But it does not go away.
The only chance this country has is if people listen to that little voice.

Very poor analysis and possibly a projection.
I've been posting stuff about the mind of a Trump voter for 8 years, go back and watch Michael Moore describing how Trump is a middle finger to the system, because of disaffectedness. Or recently Rudyard Lynch talking about how for people who are fucked in the current system are prone to want to blow it all up.

Not sure how it applies here, but I'm not as deep as you are.
My son (who obtained one of them useless history degrees unless you go to law school) did his
senior paper on lawyers in the Third Reich. Such as how do you go from ordinary legal work under Weimar to legal justifications for the Nazi horrors under the 3d Reich. Almost none of the lawyers or judges had any problems with it. When he was at ND Law they let him take a masters level historycourse about the ordinary men theory. It can happen quicker and easier than most think.
For a person who thinks Trump is Hitler, the connection should be obvious.
Or maybe you think they were all, "stupids" or "uneducated morons" or "deplorable" or "garbage" or "(not a) good person".
This election won't be decided by partisans, but people who have about 4 years of each to decide which direction to go. And most of them who vote for Trump, will dislike him, but will decide he is the best of bad options.
I don't think Trump is Hitler. And Ordinary Men has nothing to do with anything.

I tend to agree... but I'm not so sure that any of them are all that decent and good.
People go into this profession who are very narcissistic. NOBODY used his own name more frequently giving speeches than did Obama.
AND... there has to be a touch of masochism in these personalities given the public abuse they must endure.
So that gives cover for us to vote for the worst of all of them
