The shingles vaccine is a real PITA.

It completely wiped me out, and I didn't watch any of the election nor the CFP. The newer vaccine is life long though, and anyone with shingles will tell you, it's well worth it.

the way, most people who think that they have never had the chicken pox have actually had a subclinical case of it.

Me neither, but they still recommend you get it.

Do you still have to wait until you're 50 to receive it?

I had a bad case of chicken pox when I was in high school, and I never want to be sick like that again.

I've been waiting to be vaccinated. A lifetime dose sounds awesome, no matter the initial reaction.

Yes. 50 for gen pop and then 19 if you are somehow immunocompromised.

Was the old one 10 years? If it is life-long, I might get it.

I didn’t notice any reaction at all, but it wiped my wife out.

Old one was q5yrs, but it had a fairly high failure rate (though shingles was mitigated usually). Now

the new vaccine is life long, much lower failure rate (90% effective), but it requires 2 vaccination shots 2 to 6 months apart, and it knocks a lot of people for a loop for about 2 days.
